The first look arrives in the second season of the prequel House of the Dragon, which premiered on June 16.

The new show’s image featured actor Peter Claffey as the main character, Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall.

The character walks through a busy Westeros-style village, enjoying the scenery.

This also means that production on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has already begun in Belfast, Ireland.

‘WHO ASKED THIS?’

Not all Internet users were in a hurry to mark their calendars.

“Another spin-off?” one user X wrote when the photo circulated.

“How many spinoffs will they make to undo their mistakes in GOT Season 8???” wrote a second (referring to the original show’s infamous ending that came out of the book).

“Who asked for this??” posted a third.

“How many throne games are we having?” asked a fourth.

“Once again begging for an original idea,” wrote a fifth.

However, others defended the adaptation, pointing out that it is based on the Dunk and Egg book series by George RR Martin.

“Lowkey excited about this one. The book was great,” they wrote.

“It’s amazing how so many people thought this franchise was dead,” an additional fan posted.

MORE ABOUT THE NEW SHOW

The first image comes as five other actors were confirmed for the cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Finn Bennett will play Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel will play Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford will play Tanselle, Daniel Ings will play Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell will play Maekar Targaryen.

Maekar Targaryen is the current ruler of Westeros in this timeline of Game of Thrones history.

It takes place a century before the events of the original series, but after the events of House of the Dragon.

Maekar’s son is Prince Aerion, and his brother is Prince Baelor. Ser Lyonel is the heir of Storm’s End, who goes by the name Laughing Storm.

As for Tanselle, also known as Tanselle Too-Tall, she is a Dornish puppeteer.

They all join co-star Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg, the name of Dunk’s squire.

There will be six episodes in Season 1, each apparently an hour or more long.

Here’s the synopsis for the Warner Bros. show. Discovery: “A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros… a young, naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.

“Set in a time when the Targaryen bloodline still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet faded from living memory, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous exploits await these unlikely and incomparable friends.”

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on the events of the Dunk and Egg series of novels by George RR Martin.

Season 1 will adapt the first book, The Hedge Knight, followed by adaptations of The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is scheduled to debut on HBO in 2025.
