Ryan, 39, announced his break from acting on Friday following a series of video statements detailing aspects of the industry he was struggling with, including social media.

He shared the written statement in an Instagram video.

“Hi everyone… so first of all, I’m a little apprehensive about having to make a statement like this,” he began.

“I am certainly accustomed to a degree of gossip, but the last few weeks in particular have gotten out of hand with speculation from third parties who have taken my words and run with them to fulfill their narrative, or have completely misrepresented my words or misinterpreted the meaning.

“I’ve always been an open book and speaking my mind truthfully and directly, and it’s unfortunate that we live in a world where social media makes it very easy to distort someone’s words. I’m often unaware that this is happening until someone on my team messages me in a panic, so I think it’s best to make a formal statement through HEAVY.”

Ryan continued: “As I’ve stated before, I’m taking a step back from acting, something I’ve felt I needed to do for some time, and a decision that has proven absolutely necessary in recent weeks.

“The industry hasn’t felt like the place for me for some time now, and my mental health has suffered as a result. It took me to a bit of a dark place, it turned me into a version of myself that I don’t really like. I publicly vented some of my anger and frustration, and for that I apologize.

“I’ve had many years of smooth sailing and I’m very lucky to be able to say that, but the waters have been a lot rougher in the last year. I know I’m not alone in this; it seems like almost EVERYONE, in Hollywood or not, is going through times difficult to some extent.”

The Marrying Mr. Darcy star detailed some of her recent challenges.

“I’ve had bank accounts hacked, money embezzled, investments stolen… things that, although difficult, can be recovered. But after all this, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer.

“I left Los Angeles to be closer to her and feel the need to dedicate more time, energy and resources closer to home.”

Ryan added: “Please don’t for a second think it’s ‘all bad news.’ I have a lot to be grateful for. I am grateful to this industry as a whole. I’m grateful to General Hospital for giving a green actor a chance and tolerating his learning curve, to Hallmark for changing my life and taking me to. places that have become my favorites on Earth, to my managers for seeing something in a resume-less grunt and helping to engineer a whole new trajectory and life for him, and to all of YOU who helped create this handyman and bartender and take him on a decade-long adventure like he never imagined.”

“I have a lot to be grateful for and not a day goes by without me having that thought”, he concluded.

SAD FIGHT

On thursday. the actor uploaded a video sharing his plans to step away from social media as well.

In the Instagram clip, he was seen sitting in front of the camera in a black t-shirt and matching hat, which he wore backwards.

“Hey guys, starting this morning I’m going to start moving away from public social media, starting with deleting my public Facebook page, which I just did,” he began.

“Scammers are everywhere and they are incessant. My managers and I were on the phone today with a lady who was robbed of a significant amount of money, and I just can’t do this anymore. in space.

“Social media platforms don’t care. They’re not helping us get rid of them and there’s no way I can educate the masses about how scammers operate, or prove myself or anything like that, so the only thing I can do is it’s leaving the space completely,” Ryan continued.

“If you’re talking to someone on Facebook or WhatsApp or Telegram or a private email account or something, stop. You’re being scammed. I will no longer be present on any of those platforms.”

In a previous live video, the model addressed previous comments he made “about residual structures,” clearing the air.

His caption explained that he made the comments “out of a lack of understanding.”

“I have since been educated by my team and my union, thus clarifying things and apologizing,” he wrote.

“When you know better, do better.”

Ryan previously announced plans to take a break from acting in April

A fan sent a screenshot of a female world story that dubbed Ryan the number 1 heartthrob.

Another fan responded to the post on X, formerly Twitter, wondering when Ryan would return with a new film.

“Unfortunately, no word on film… I may take 2024 off filming, unless the project is with friends,” he replied.

“The last 8 months of living in this industry have left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I need some time away from a world so full of fake friends and empty promises.

“I had a great run. I like my simple life in my shop, helping my little brother and surfing often,” he continued, referring to the fact that he opened a workshop in his home and hopes to share videos and content from it.

“I have a lot to be thankful for, I’ll figure out a way to stay afloat without acting income… who knows, maybe a movie will come along. Insurance would be nice, haha,” he continued.
