CBS executives took responsibility for the Billy Joel concert special, which was interrupted during its airing.

As the special came to an end, it ended abruptly before Billy, 74, completely finished his set.
People watching in the Eastern and Central time zones missed the final two minutes of the program because the program was cut to local newscasts.
The rock singer was singing the final verse of his 1973 hit Piano Man before local news interrupted him.
CBS was very apologetic about the incident and recently released a statement about it.
“A network scheduling error ended last night’s Billy Joel special approximately two minutes early in the Eastern and Central time zones,” the network said in a statement.
“We apologize to Mr. Joel, his fans, our affiliated stations and our audience whose viewing experience was interrupted during the last song. Due to overwhelming demand from his legion of fans, Billy Joel: The 100th – Live at Madison Square Garden will be rebroadcast in its entirety on CBS on April 19th at 9pm ET/PT.”
The Billy Joel Special was initially scheduled to air at 9pm ET on Sunday, but was pushed back about half an hour for the eastern half of America.
This was because CBS’ coverage of the Masters golf tournament made it to prime time.
On Monday, Billy took to X, aka Twitter, to repost CBS’ statement apologizing for the outage.
Billy’s fans revealed on X that they were happy CBS was taking steps to fix the issue.
Especially when fans went berserk online after the Billy Joel special stopped two minutes early.

He will perform with Rod Stewart on September 13th and Sting on October 25th and November 9th.
Over the course of his decades-long career in the music industry, Billy solidified himself as a rock legend.
