ABC has decided to take a break from airing new episodes of its original shows.
The network revealed that fans of The Rookie, The Good Doctor and Will Trent will have to wait for new content.
Tuesday night television was filled with reruns that deeply disappointed fans.
Season 6, Episode 6 of The Rookie, titled Secrets and Lies, aired on Tuesday, April 9th.
However, episode 7 will air on April 30, three weeks after the most recent new episode.
The show stars Nathan Fillion and is based on the true story of the oldest LAPS rookie who joined the force at age 40.
It’s been on air since 2018, and fans had to wait a long time for the new season because of attacks from SAG and WGA.
The Good Doctor, which is celebrating its final season, will suffer the same three-week break.
This show stars Freddie Highmore as Shaun Murphy, an autistic surgeon with savant syndrome.
Finally, ABC’s Will Trent also took a three-week hiatus between the sixth and seventh episodes of its second season.
Ramon Rodriguez plays Will Trent, a special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, and the show follows his adventures at the GBI.
The series was recently renewed for its third season.
FAN FURY
On social media, fans from all three fan bases were furious at the idea of waiting three weeks for a new episode.
On Instagram, The Rookie viewer said: “No the break is ridiculous, someone needs to pay these writers!
“Disappointed with these constant delays in new episodes,” added another.
A third asked: “Why is there another long gap between episodes?”
Will Trent on X fans wrote: “My favorite episode so far this season #WillTrent now we have to wait another three weeks for the next episode.”
One viewer commented: “Making us wait three weeks, especially when the next episode looks so good, how dare we. Also, this week’s episode was great.”
Good Doctor fans on Instagram added: “These long breaks are so annoying, what if some of us don’t make it until April 30th?
“It’s ABC that probably dictates when episodes of this show air! Let’s blame them,” said another.
One final fan wrote: “I hate and love you at the same time, this is ruining my life.”
Fans only have one more week of reruns before they can see new episodes.
