CHICAGO Fire fans were disappointed again this week as they suffered through more repeats.

Chicago Fire season 12 hasn’t seen new content since April 3, when the episode Something About Her aired.

For the second Wednesday in a row, fans of the Chicago franchise tuned in to NBC only to be greeted with a rerun.

To make matters worse, viewers will also be left underwhelmed next week.

Chicago Fire received the same treatment as its counterparts Chicago Med and Chicago PD, which were on the same three-week hiatus.

On Reddit, Chicago Fire superfans expressed their frustration with the huge gap in the season, saying, “Wednesday nights aren’t the same without #OneChicago.”

Many blamed the WGA and SAG strikes that occurred last year and hope the next season will return to normal.

One said: “The gaps are because of the writers’ strike – the series had a pre-determined end time for the end of the season and had to work towards that while filming fewer episodes.”

Other alleged shows always have breaks, but they are less noticeable in longer seasons.

They said: “They always have breaks, we just don’t notice because we usually have 22 episodes to look forward to from September to May, compared to the irregular 13 episode period from January to May.”

A third fan joined in the hate over the hiatus: “I’m with you on this. I’m in the UK and there are never breaks like this throughout a season.

“We can lose at most a week if there is a special occasion or football or something that takes priority on the channel.”

Chicago Fire fans slam NBC for ‘punishing’ them with major schedule changes for all of the franchise’s shows, including Med and P.D.

“Half the time I forget what happened last time on Chicago Fire because there are so many gaps between episodes,” they concluded.

NEXT

The next new episode of the show will air next month on May 1st.

It will be the tenth episode of the season and is called The Wrong Guy.

It will feature the character Severide, played by Taylor Kinney, 42, as he joins Station 51 as a senior officer.

Additionally, Stella Kidd will focus on her show Girls on Fire, and Joe Cruz will have to deal with a threat against his family.

Fans in another Reddit thread talked about the next episode and speculated about what was to come.

One fan shouted, “I swear if they take Javi away from Cruz and Chloe I’m ready,” Javi being Cruz’s adopted son.

“Oh no, it’s not one of Javi’s relatives who came back to ruin things!” added another.

A third viewer said: “Everyone is fixated on Javi’s stuff and reminiscing about the trauma of adoption, but we’re also reminiscing about Kidd losing Girls on Fire, even though she was so successful she created dozens of new ones while panicking about the captaincy, but it was not logical for there to be a threat to him.

“It’s very likely our villain going after it, but the mental hurdles they’ll need to overcome to justify it are crazy.”

The entire Chicago One franchise will be back with new episodes on Wednesday nights, airing on NBC, and available on Peacock.
