NBC announced that Maura Tierney would return to the network and join Law & Order as a series regular for season 24.

Maura is famous for her role on NBC’s ER as Abby Lockhart.

She was also a regular on the TV series American Rust, while also appearing in the hit 2024 film Twisters.

With the news about Maura joining the Law & Order franchise, fans are excited to welcome her to the next season.

“The way I just screamed MAURA TIERNEY?!” said a fan on X.

“We need at least 7 scenes between Maura Tierney and Mariska Hargitay this season alone.”

Another said: “I think this is wonderful! The last thing I saw @MauraTierney was in the movie with Jim Carry!

“She’s always been one of my favorites. ER, Liar Liar… come on!” said a third.

“Yes!! I’m going to start watching it again. I love her!” a fourth wrote.

While details about Maura’s character are currently unknown, she will take on the role of an NYPD lieutenant.

The news of Maura’s arrival comes after fans said goodbye to two fan favorites from last season.

In May, news broke that Camryn Manheim was leaving the show after three seasons.

She was famous for her role as NYPD Lieutenant Kate Dixon in 2022 during the show’s revival.

Speaking about his departure, show creator Dick Wolf shared a statement via Variety.

“I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons that helped us relaunch Law & Order,” he shared.

His departure from the show came just months after Sam Waterson left Law & Order in February.

Sam has played the role of Manhattan District Attorney Jack McCoy since Season 5 of the original series.

Following her departure from the show, Camryn spoke about her “legacy,” saying, “They just don’t make them like Sam anymore.

“I say he’s the real McCoy.”

After he left, Tony Goldwyn joined the franchise as Nicholas Baxter.

Speaking about this new role, Tony wrote on Instagram: “Some very big shoes to fill! The first episode ended with DA Nicholas Baxter.
