LAW & Order has announced that an ER alum will be joining the new season.
The cast change comes after two fan-favorite stars exited the series last season.
NBC announced that Maura Tierney would return to the network and join Law & Order as a series regular for season 24.
Maura is famous for her role on NBC’s ER as Abby Lockhart.
She was also a regular on the TV series American Rust, while also appearing in the hit 2024 film Twisters.
With the news about Maura joining the Law & Order franchise, fans are excited to welcome her to the next season.
“The way I just screamed MAURA TIERNEY?!” said a fan on X.
“We need at least 7 scenes between Maura Tierney and Mariska Hargitay this season alone.”
Another said: “I think this is wonderful! The last thing I saw @MauraTierney was in the movie with Jim Carry!
“She’s always been one of my favorites. ER, Liar Liar… come on!” said a third.
“Yes!! I’m going to start watching it again. I love her!” a fourth wrote.
While details about Maura’s character are currently unknown, she will take on the role of an NYPD lieutenant.

The news of Maura’s arrival comes after fans said goodbye to two fan favorites from last season.
In May, news broke that Camryn Manheim was leaving the show after three seasons.

Speaking about his departure, show creator Dick Wolf shared a statement via Variety.
“I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons that helped us relaunch Law & Order,” he shared.
