SHOWRUNNERS of the hit CBS show have officially spoken out after the network pulled the plug on the crime drama.
According to the producers, they are still feeling the “sting” from when CBS pulled the plug on the police procedural.
“ Obviously we were surprised,” said co-showrunners Jan Nash, Christopher Silber and Matt Bosack. TV line on Friday.
“If we had known this was going to happen, we probably wouldn’t have ended the series on a cliffhanger.”
“The fact that the studio and the network didn’t stop us makes it seem like they may not have anticipated this either,” they continued.
“We love our show and we know other people love it too, but the TV business is a fickle mistress and you can’t make business decisions personally.”

“But it still hurts,” they finished.
It was initially reported that despite the growing number of viewers, CBS decided to end the show, leaving several cast members heartbroken.
The news that NCIS would not return also came immediately after the show announced that it had wrapped filming on Season 3.
Typically, shows are canceled between seasons. so it was even more devastating for the cast to find out as they celebrated.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach told the channel in May that the reason for the cancellation came down to viewers and finances.
“We had to make some really difficult choices this year,” she said.
“Everything came back [from the Hollywood strikes] really strong, but ultimately we have to look at the cohesion of the flow of the schedule.”
“We have to evaluate finances and overall performance and make difficult decisions,” she added.
Sources close to the TV show told TVLine that there were talks about the possibility of moving the drama series to a new network, but “it fell through.”
During the interview, the showrunner revealed several plot points that they would address in the upcoming season.

According to the showrunners, they would have revealed that part of the season would be dedicated to understanding the origin of one of the characters.
When asked by the network if they had any stories they wanted to include in the third season but couldn’t, the producers stated that they did everything they needed to.
“We loved our repertoire of characters and would have continued to use them as much as we could,” they said.
“We were talking about Tennant’s mother and Ernie’s ex-wife, but other than following up on our cliffhanger, there were no ‘musts’ on the list.”
“Our goals each season were the same: to tell great stories with these great actors.”
The creators also took the opportunity to thank their dedicated fan base.
“It’s quite simple… thanks,” they said.
“We love our show, and the fact that so many other people love it too is gratifying.”
“They were the biggest fans we’ve ever had at a show. And we shared their passion and heartbreak. We’re grateful to have been a worldwide ohana for so long.”
