The Office universe is expanding and will now feature two beloved TV stars.
It was announced on Friday that the iconic NBC series The Office has been greenlit for a spinoff series.
The next project is still in the early stages; however, two special actors were selected to join the cast of the next program.
White Lotus star Sabrina Impacciatore, 56, and The Patient star Domhnall Gleeson40 years old, signed a contract to be part of The Office universe.
However, producers are keeping quiet about the roles Sabrina and Domhnall would play.
“Office Universal Television studio declined to comment other than to confirm that the project remains in development.” Deadline reported Friday.
Co-creator Greg Daniels, 60, doesn’t foresee a reboot for the new iteration of The Office.
The news outlet exclusively reported earlier this year that the spinoff “will be set in a new office with new characters, but will live in the same world.”
Social media went wild after news of The Office spinoff made headlines.
On X, also known as Twitter, many fans praised the upcoming show and expressed their excitement on the social media platform.
“I NEEDED THIS,” admitted one fan.
“I’m so excited to see a new original series set in the Office universe,” revealed another.
“I can’t wait until we get a Jim-style ‘looking straight into the camera’ reaction gif of Domhnall.”
“The best show ever,” praised a third person.
“THIS LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING CREATED BY MY MIND,” exclaimed another person.
CAN YOU COMPETE?
While many were excited about the spinoff, some still wondered if it would be as comparable to the original series.
“My skepticism is through the roof, but Domhnall Gleeson can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned,” one fan shared.
“It could be much worse,” wrote one of them on X.
The Office was originally a British show adapted for American audiences.
TOTALLY ICONIC
Although the sitcom ended 11 years ago, from 2005 to 2013, it is ever-present on streaming platforms like Amazon.
Now it’s on Netflix, which keeps its popularity high.
Now, six of its cast members have reunited for a hilarious new ad from AT&T Business Next Level Network.
Show favorites Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Kate Flannery, Craig Robinson, Brian Baumgartner and Creed Bratton may leave their corporate alter-egos behind in the announcement, but they still share many of their characteristics.
Notable omissions from the announcement are John Krasinski – who played Fischer’s fiancé Jim Halpert and is married to Hollywood star Emily Blunt in real life – and Steve Carell, who played hapless Office manager Michael Scott.
