Shortly after the season 40 finale, Jeopardy! announced its full summer rerun schedule.

The schedule spanned Monday, July 29, until the premiere of season 41, scheduled for September 9, 2024.

On Wednesday, fans took to Reddit, confessing that they were feeling “lost” without new episodes of Jeopardy!

“Why do they need to take a break? Two more weeks of filming would cover the summer!” complained one viewer.

Other commenters chimed in with their own complaints.

“I don’t like how they’re rebroadcasting something that aired so recently, I forgot how they usually do it, but it would be cool if they did a random airing from a few years ago so the episodes would at least feel a little newer” , noted one commenter.

A second danger! fan seemed to agree, adding: “Yes, and we already had a lot of tournaments at the beginning of the year due to the writers’ strike, and for the reruns they chose a tournament?

“Not that I’m not excited to see the new Tournament of Champions in a few weeks, however long it takes, but I really don’t need to see the last one again.”

“I wish they would use this as an opportunity to show clips of Alex.”

Danger! Fans Upset As Show’s Only Streaming Service Removes Episodes ‘Without Warning’

Late host Alex Trebek died in November 2020 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Some fans speculated that there was a reason why the episodes with Alex weren’t being aired.

“I hope they’re not avoiding airing their episodes because of some restrictive agreement or something similar to the royalties they’re owed. I would hate to see money or contracts get in the way of exposing new generations to Alex Trebek,” one fan posted.

Another suggested: “It probably has to do with affiliates not wanting stale reruns and prefer newer shows.”

Danger! Host timeline

Danger! has had a tumultuous history regarding hosts following the death of the iconic Alex Trebek in 2020. Here are every host since the game show’s inception in 1964.

Art Fleming – from 1964 to 1975, he was the original host of the daytime version of Jeopardy! on NBC.

Alex Trebek – From 1984 to 2020, the late, great Alex hosted the modern iteration of Jeopardy! for 36 years until his death from pancreatic cancer.

Guest Hosts – 2020 to 2021, Jeopardy! tested a series of guest hosts for one- or two-week stints, including Anderson Cooper, LaVar Burton and Aaron Rodgers.

Mike Richards – 2021, he was named host for a week before resigning amid controversy. He was the show’s executive producer at the time.

Mayim Bialik – 2021 to 2023, when Mike was announced as the show’s new host, Mayim was chosen to host tournaments and primetime specials.

Mayim and Ken Jennings – 2022 to 2023, 74-time champion Ken (the winningest contestant of all time) joined Mayim as guest host and they shared hosting duties.

Ken Jennings – 2023 to present. Last December, Mayim announced on Instagram that she would “no longer” host Jeopardy! after a long hiatus, having defended the writers’ strike, and Ken was named sole host.

Ken now runs all editions of Jeopardy! including Celebrity Jeopardy!, the late night show and other primetime specials such as Masters.

NOT EXCITED

Danger! fans also complained when the show initially announced its summer rerun schedule.

At the time, in an Instagram post, the producers shared: “Time to sit back and relax [sun emoji] [face with sunglasses emoji] Relive some of your favorite ToC +JIT moments all summer long.”

The reruns that aired over the summer were all episodes from the 40th season, which had just aired.

The first three weeks were the 2024 Tournament of Champions, won by Yogesh Raut.

The final three will be the inaugural Invitational Tournament, which Victoria Groce won.

The ToC was not shown in full and reruns began abruptly during the fourth game, as revealed in the poster shared on social media.

“They won’t repeat the first three TOC games, which includes Cris Pannullo’s comeback,” complained one fan.

“They should have the last repeat week for users to choose from, for those that are anticipated, like Black Friday and some others,” added another.

“I wish they would replay really old episodes during this time,” posted a third.

“Disappointed that we did not restart the quarter-final game between Jared x Cris x Ben Goldstein. It was an incredible game”, highlighted a fourth.

“No more tournament episodes!!!!” argued a fifth.

“The ongoing string of tournaments that apparently lasted years and ended a few months ago has left a bitter taste in my mouth.”

“Yeah, that’s what I’m really looking forward to next season,” agreed a sixth commenter.

“Just a standard run with lots of regular games and occasional tournaments. September-March of Season 40 was very strange in a way.”

Streaming Issues

In addition to scheduling issues, Jeopardy! viewers expressed dissatisfaction that the show’s only streaming platform stopped showing it without notice.

Previously, Pluto TV was the only way for fans to watch the show, which is not available anywhere else except cable.

Paramount’s free live TV platform and video-on-demand service features more than 300 live channels.

As of 2022, one of these channels is dedicated to Jeopardy!, showing reruns with Alex 24/7.

This ended on July 31st, without any warning to fans.

A message posted on the live stream, which turned into a black screen that read: “Jeopardy! Hosted by Alex Trebek is no longer available on Pluto TV.”

Fans were particularly upset because the show had just entered its summer break.

The feed showcased early episodes that couldn’t be found anywhere else, including host Ken Jennings’ original appearance on the show.

Fans expressed their disappointment on Reddit.

“Both Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune channels are down,” wrote one Redditor, starting a thread upon making the discovery.

“I’m not sure if this is just temporary or if it’s completely off the air, but both Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune just shut down Pluto TV without any warning.”

“The Jeopardy channel was only up a few hours ago. Is anyone else having problems?”

Other fans confirmed that the platform wasn’t working for them.

One of them pointed out: “The original deal for both channels, starting in 2022, was only for two years, so I think it has expired; There’s a chance it could move to another streaming service, but I hope it stays on Pluto. much more convenient.”

A second posted: “I hope it stays on PlutoTV too. I love watching these reruns for free anytime, on demand and on your own channel.”

“A moment of silence please,” wrote a third.

“Please don’t – not when season 40 ends either. Please don’t let this happen!” added one more.

The streaming service has ended its contract with Jeopardy!, it has now been confirmed
