DANGER! contestant Amy Hummel is suddenly on a hot streak, and even this season’s big winner revealed she’s been paying attention.

The Wisconsin emergency room doctor defeated Dan Byrne and Matt Mawhinney on Friday night in a razor-thin finish, totaling $58,195 over three days.

After a big win on Thursday and comparisons to Maggie Gyllenhaal, Amy was back for more.

In danger! round, the game quickly became a two-person battle between her and consultant and yacht rocker Dan from Georgia.

Amy racked up $5,400 and the first Daily Double, and Dan led with $6,600, while Florida-based “democracy entrepreneur” Matt took $800.

On Double Jeopardy!, Matt entered the fray by winning the second Daily Double, giving him $4,000, but that momentum didn’t last long.

Amy regained the lead on a $1,500 bet in the last Daily Double and accelerated.

‘PRESSURE IS ON’

Going into Final Jeopardy, she had $17,700, and Dan had $10,200 – so anyone could still win – and Matt had $4,000

The crucial clue in “US GEOGRAPHY” read: “At 14,410′, it is one of the tallest volcanoes in North America; a Puyallup name for him translates as “bringing the water.”

Matt didn’t finish and Dan nailed “Mt. Rainier”, causing Ken Jennings to exclaim “Wow!” by winning $10,199 and the lead.

The host turned to Amy and commented, “There is pressure” for her to be correct, which is what she was doing, adding $2,800.

Amy won for just $101, leaving her with $20,500, a winning smile and an incredible three-day total.

BET ON THIS!

Fans flooded social media, commenting on Alison Betts’ sudden wave of success just a week later.

“Another good win for Amy. And I totally didn’t Google ‘dirty version of St. Olaf’s fight song,'” joked one Redditor.

“All I want is the Alison Betts-Amy Hummel ToC showdown we deserve,” wished another.

Alison joined the conversation and accepted the challenge.

She responded to the fan above: “I’m rooting for Amy so much! I’d love to see her again on ToC, she’s amazing.”

A fourth wrote: “I still think Amy needs to be more aggressive with her DD bets, but it was an absolutely deserved win once again!”

A fifth agreed: “Absolutely. Very small DD bets and she plays a little slow, so 2 games in a row with clues left on the board. But she’s good and interesting and I’m rooting for her. More aggressive DD bets and that’s a probably It would have been another fugitive.”

Amy will face two more challengers on Monday and, if she wins, she will be ranked third for the next Tournament of Champions.

GIRLS CLUB!

Two weeks ago brought the long-awaited return to regular gaming after a flood of Jeopardy! tournaments.

Ironically, it only took one game for the first striker of the season to arrive, Alison.

Alison won five games totaling $121,500 and won the hearts of fans during her run with her strong play and hilarious anecdotes

Alison will be back for the next Contest of Champions along with Celebrity Jeopady’s Lisa Ann Walter.

If Amy also qualifies, the next ToC will consist of three women and no men so far – which is great to see.

WHY IS SHE SO CALM

Dr. Hummel is an emergency medicine physician in Madison, Wisconsin, according to US Health News.

Her profession may explain why, as fans have noted, she is a “slow lane picker.”

Amy received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine after graduating from St. Olaf (3/4 fight song). She has been in practice for almost five years.

His specialty is emergency medicine, which entails “rapidly evaluating and treating patients with catastrophic injuries.”

“Common reasons for visiting emergency rooms include heart attack, drug overdose, shock, burns and heavy bleeding.”

In other words, her intense work demands a calm demeanor, which may be why she is so calm – perhaps too calm for some fans’ tastes, with some clues left twice in the frame.

DANGER! MASTERS APPROACHES

Meanwhile, Jeopardy! Masters will return for Season 2 in just a few days, hitting screens on Wednesday, May 1st.

The six highest-ranked contestants compete on ABC primetime starting May 1, 2024, playing two matches per hour-long episode.

The contestants are Masters Season 1 champion James Holzhauer, returning contestants Matt Amodio and Mattea Roach, producer’s choice Amy Schneider, and newcomers Yogesh Raut and Victoria Groce.

The episodes air at 8pm on ABC, but don’t worry, they won’t interfere with normal gameplay, and both the regular show and Masters will air on those nights.

The Masters grand prize is $500,000, a flashy Alex Trebek trophy and the Jeopardy! Master Champion.

James comes in as the one to beat and everyone is looking to see if he can win back-to-back Masters.

Wednesday, May 22
8pm-9pm – Danger! Masters: (209) (season finale)

WHAT IS IT: THE FORMAT?

The Masters will begin with six quarterfinal episodes and 12 matches where no one will be eliminated.

The round-robin tournament will see all iterations of competitors face off against each other.

Then, after the fifth and sixth placed teams are eliminated, there will be two semi-final episodes starting on Friday, May 17th.

The final will air on May 22nd after the fourth-place finisher has been eliminated, giving fans our top three finishers.

An episode of two final matches will determine the winner based on the highest combined score.

James changed his contestant bio from “self-proclaimed game show villain” to “self-proclaimed ‘final boss of Jeopardy!’” — leaning into his wrestler persona once again.

MEET THE MASTERS

James, a 32-time winner and poker pro, won Master Season 1 with ease and lost just one game.

Mattea, 24, returns as runner-up and almost defeated James in the final, who until then showed no signs of problems.

Matt, 39, came third last year and was the only player to score a win against James in the entire feature.

“I feel like a stronger competitor,” Amodio said in preparation at a recent event attended by The US Sun.

Yogesh punched his ticket by winning the 2024 Tournament of Champions.

Victoria won Jeopardy’s Invitational Tournament against Amy and Andrew He, which is no small feat.

Amy, 40 times champion, was also chosen as the final competitor as Producer’s Choice.

The decision was not without its drama, as she lost Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament for Groce, only for both to advance to the Masters anyway.

This also means that Masters 2024 will only have two debutants (JIT winner Groce and 2024 ToC winner Yogesh) instead of three.

“How do you have a tournament that eliminates people from the masters, but still chooses them…” one fan reacted to the news.

“For the record, as a huge fan of Amy… I’m not a huge fan of this choice. It’s a predictable choice and I just don’t know if its gameplay will compare to the other five,” wrote another.

“So what was the point of JIT,” asked a third.

WHO WILL WIN?

That being said, Victoria, Queen of the Chase, got everyone excited after her big JIT win, and fans think she could even dethrone James.

The main attraction this year is their potential rivalry, as they are co-stars on ABC’s sister show Chasers.

On a Jeopardy-themed Reddit forum, viewers chose newcomer Victoria as the player who can give James a run for his money.

“Victoria really impressed me with her buzzer skills when she was on Jeopardy’s Invitational Tournament,” one fan wrote.

Another said: “James has an overwhelming lead in the poll but I think Victoria will surprise people.”

“Victoria vs James is going to be epic, two top scorers from The Chase playing against each other!” He wrote a third.

Danger! airs at 7pm ET on ABC – check your local listings.
