DANGER! had some fun at Ken Jennings’ expense on Tuesday with a clue that cleverly harkened back to a social media argument about his hosting.
Allison Gross defeated one-day champion Matthew Smith and Daniel King to become the new winner.

After eliminating three-day champion Weckaiai Rennali, Matthew took the winner’s podium with $26,400.
Fans were eager to see if the New York paramedic could turn the upset victory into a streak.
After Danger! round, Allison, a data scientist from Cleveland, Ohio (helped by a $2,000 Daily Double), led with $5,800, while Matthew had $2,600 and Brown graduate Daniel had $1,200.
In Double Jeopardy, Matthew’s opponents encountered Daily Doubles, and Daniel lost $2,000 in his, Alison winning a crucial $4,000 in hers.
After some pop culture fails (Hilary Swank!?) Allison led Final Jeopardy with $11,800, while Matthew had $7,000 and Daniel had $2,000.
Final Danger! in “FAMOUS CHARACTERS” it reads: “She is introduced in an 1845 novel in which she wears a short skirt with the mantilla thrown back to show her shoulders.”
Only Daniel got it right with “Carmen”, but Allison played it safe, losing $2,201 to win with $9,599.
Allison will now face two new challengers tomorrow night to see if she can team up with Alison Betts to become our next striped girl named Allison.
‘NEWSEARTH AS THEY SAY’
Meanwhile, Daniel’s Daily Double was an easter egg that not all casual viewers may have noticed.
In “PRONUNCIATION ADVICE” Ken read: “Became a Canadian province in 1949 and poet EJ Pratt advised, accent on the last syllable, swallow the first D.”
He had no idea, so Ken, 49, told him, “It’s Newfoundland.”
He went on to specify: “Or NewfoundEarth, as they say there.
One Redditor noted, “I believe Ken got into a fight online about this, so DD2 seemed like a callback to that.”

In fact, as the track and Ken seemed to be referring to, the host got into a social media fight with a fan last year when he was accused of mispronouncing “Terra Nova.”
During the episode, Ken said “New-fin-lind” instead of “New-fin-lind”Earth”, which caused Canadian critics to come out of the woodwork.
One fan wrote on X: “OMG NO!!! He didn’t pronounce Newfoundland correctly AGAIN.”
Another person wrote: “Terra Nova rhymes with understanding.”
A third dissatisfied viewer personally tagged Ken and wrote: “Next time @KenJennings… Terra Nova rhymes with understanding. “Newfoundland-understanding, emphasis on the land. I loved the show. You’re doing a great job.”
Ken responded personally in a reply that he quickly deleted, writing, “Not in the US. Maybe on Newfie Jeopardy! Someday they’ll say it your way.”
Ken also accessed the Merriam-Webster dictionary, confirming that he did nothing wrong.
However, “Newfie” is a term used to describe people from Newfoundland, who, according to the complete blood countIt is divisive when outsiders use it.
The fan responded to Ken: “Wow. If his source knew anything about Newfoundland and Labrador, he would know that many people in this province will find the use of Newfie as insulting as it is disappointing.”
“Please ask the producers to play some old tapes to find out how Alex (correctly) pronounced it.”
Ken then responded once again, “It’s not up to me! It’s Merriam-Webster you’re arguing with.”

Meanwhile, Jeopardy! Masters Season 2 aired its second episode of two quarterfinal matches on ABC on Monday night.
The six elite competitors are Amy Schneider, James Holzhauer, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach, Victoria and Yogesh Raut.
The prize is $500,000, an Alex Trebek Trophy and ultimate bragging rights.
In Game 1, Mattea faced Matt and the “self-proclaimed final boss”, defending champion James (a rematch of last year’s Masters final).
James — who lost Episode 1 to Yogesh — finished Double Jeopardy with a 45.200, the highest score in Masters history.
Fans flooded social media in awe of James’ big win, though some admitted they were hoping for a Final Jeopardy comeback joke with an escape.
In fact, other than his name being written in Japanese on his podium, there were no jokes from James on the board, who seemed determined to just win.
“I thought James might bring a disturbing message,” joked a third party, surprised by James’ seriousness.
A fourth agreed: “I’m a little sad we didn’t get a pro wrestling tease intro or a Final Jeopardy comeback joke from James this year.

In Game 2, Amy faced last week’s winners, Victoria and Yogesh.
Victoria found the last Daily Double and nailed it like “Hoover”, taking her to 33,600 and an escape.
At the end of Double Jeopardy, Victoria had an impressive score of 41,000, Yogesh 11,800, and Amy 10,200 – which meant Amy once again finished in last place.
“We knew Victoria would be good but WOW,” one fan wrote.
Another lamented: “Amy’s confidence is so shaken. 40 games and second place in JIT is sooo commendable, chin up girls!”
An additional fan wrote, “Imagine if Producer’s Choice ended in 6th place haha,” referring to Amy.
One more wrote: “She probably will. Amy is super smart and friendly and one of my favorite players, but she’s just not on the same level as the others.”
“I feel horrible for Amy,” wrote another, and “Yeah, she’s having a rough tournament.”
