Price is Right fans furiously criticized a player for wasting his turn in the game with a joke move.

Viewers noticed that even host Drew Carey seemed shocked and confused by how the contestant played during Tuesday’s show.

About halfway through the episode, Drew called a new fan, a man named Nicholas, from the audience for his chance to make it to the top price games.

“Welcome to the show, good luck,” the 65-year-old host told the audience as he excitedly descended toward the podiums near the stage.

He and three others had to guess the price of a set of workout equipment that included a standing knee raise station and a spinning bike.

The objective was to place a bid that was closest to the real price, without going over.

Nicholas was the first to guess and shocked everyone with his answer.

“I’m going to say $1 million,” the contestant said as the normally boisterous crowd remained completely silent.

“Really,” Drew asked as he stumbled to say anything else.

“Yes, it looks like a good piece of equipment,” Nicholas continued.

“We can bet a million there if you want,” Drew said, giving the contestant another chance to change his mind.

He didn’t, however, and encouraged Drew to submit the offer.

Although Drew accepted the answer, the production team was unable to set Nicholas’s podium price as it was too large a number.

The other three players entered with much lower guesses – $2,400, $1,250 and $1,500.

Upon reading all the guesses, Drew couldn’t help but laugh when he read the $1 million offer.

The actual retail value of the workout equipment ended up being $1,798, leaving Nicholas’s guess far from accurate.

Still, he applauded and cheered for Sandy, who won with her $1,500 guess.

Fans at home were furious with Nicholas for taking another audience member’s place just to make this guess.

“Man, I was screaming at my TV screen over this,” wrote one upset viewer on an online forum. “$1 million for an exercise bike? Let’s go.”

“I wish they could send someone like that back to the public,” a second suggested.

“The best part was that the audience sat in silence,” wrote a third fan. “They knew a clown when they saw one.”

“Feel bad for everyone in the audience whose dream was to fall,” said a fourth irritated viewer.

One fan criticized the contestant for making the “stupidest move ever,” while another said he just wanted attention.

Others said they felt bad for Drew as he didn’t know if Nicholas was serious with his guess or not.

Later, on The Price is Right, Nicholas revealed why he gave such a surprising answer.

The explanation came after he had another chance to enter the major pricing games, once again guessing against others, this time for the price of a collection of baseball equipment.

This time, he gave a more common answer and ended up winning.

After taking the stage and shaking Drew’s hand, the host joked that Nicholas got a $1 million offer and still took the stage.

That’s when he explained that he had lost a bet and that the consequence would be having to bid $1 million if he was chosen to play.

“Oh, no, no problem,” Drew told him. “[…]You have to pay your bets.
