DANGER! fans took to social media saying the streak is like no other when it comes to the Masters tournament.

Just three episodes in, and Facebook users have argued that Masters 2024 lacks chemistry in its lineup and isn’t that captivating.

Danger! Masters Season 2 is in full swing, now airing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the month of May.

Ken Jennings hosts the six-champion show that determines the best Jeopardy! competitor in any year.

The competitors are defending champion James Holzhauer, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach, Amy Schneider and newcomers Victoria Groce and Yogesh Raut.

The prize is $500,000, an Alex Trebek Trophy and ultimate bragging rights.

So far, only Victoria (winner of the recent Invitational), Yogesh (winner of the 2024 Tournament of Champions) and James have won games.

Fans said it’s pretty clear that they will already be the finalists and that emerging star Victoria will likely win.

Additionally, there has been much less humor among the players – especially from James, who lost twice and didn’t make any jokes. Final Jeopardy responds as expected.

‘IT’S NOT THAT FUN’

A Facebook user started a thread: “So I love Jeopardy! Masters, but does anyone else agree that last year’s tournament was much more fun?

“Last year’s contestants had incredible chemistry, possibly due to Andrew and Sam!”

“Again, I don’t want to downplay this year’s tournament, and I really like each of this year’s competitors. It’s just not as fun as last year’s tournament, that’s all :).”

Other fans agreed that although Masters 2.0 is more competitive, Sam Buttrey and Andrew He created a more entertaining lineup.

Another wrote: “I think there was a different feeling of camaraderie at last year’s competition. I’m really liking Victoria.

A third agreed: “All highly competitive individuals, the tournament lacks the warmth of personality that Sam brought to the show. Oh, 100%. I love Victoria Groce, but it’s a shame we’re stuck with Yogesh instead of Andrew and Sam at this year’s Masters.”

A fourth wrote: “Andrew He and Sam Buttrey are fantastic stand-up guys. Down to earth, humble, kind, charismatic and respectful of the game. All the charming character traits that Yogesh Raut sadly lacks.”

“Thank you for articulating the feeling I’ve had this year,” wrote a fifth. “James is being James, Matt is as adorable as ever, Amy is like an old friend and Victoria is charming, as is Mattea, but the banter and wit aren’t the same without Sam and Andrew.”

“I agree 100% that Ken was also a lot more relaxed last year,” wrote another.

Another highlighted that all but one of the games were out of control: “The Daily Doubles made this tournament extremely boring.

“Everyone always going all in makes most of these games out of control.”

Another said that there is also a lack of bets, as the top three are “leagues above” the others.

“One thing tonight was confirmed for sure: Victoria, James and Yogesh are leagues above the other 3, and if anyone other than one of them makes it into the Top 3, it would be a huge surprise.”

MASTER PREMIERE

Season 1 of Masters was, above all, great TV during its release season.

James won the Masters crown and $500,000 by the smallest margin in a tight finish.

Mattea narrowly lost and led until the end of the final, a turnaround that no one expected.

The 32-time winner and professional gamer was pushed to the limit as Mattea recovered from the sudden loss of his father at his family home during filming.

James whispered, “Your dad would be so proud of you” and walked over and hugged Mattea as he was declared champion.

Another big attraction of the Masters was the interaction between the renowned players, who, in addition to James, had just been in the 2022 ToC.

When Mattea beat Andrew in the final in a tiebreaker, they hugged sweetly.

This was shortly after Mattea, almost in tears, revealed the sudden loss of his father at the age of 57, which occurred while filming the tournament.

Andrew also celebrated welcoming his first child, Everett, with his partner, midway through filming, which he also tearfully revealed on stage.

And who could forget when James brought the championship belt on stage and pretended to hit Andrew with it?

And when Matt eliminated Sam from the semi-finals they also hugged and Matt said he was his “dearest friend [he’s] done all over Jeopardy!”

Of course, another big draw was James’ relationship with Ken, as the pair only faced each other as competitors until the 2023 Masters.

James trash-talked and posed for WWE all the way to the top while doing 9/1 in matches, making for some great TV.

James told Ken to “keep it in his pants” during an NSFW moment, and also challenged the host to a “rematch” in a joke response to Final Jeopardy.

This time, Victoria and Yogesh are keeping James so on his toes that he doesn’t play around with Ken or his opponents much.

Yogesh also appears, having previously hurled insults at Amy on Facebook in 2023 and boasted about being better than trivia to James, which can’t help the mood.

Another problem with Masters 2024 is that the top three are 'leagues ahead' in the standings

STAY INFORMED ON MASTERS 2024

The Masters began on May 1st and is scheduled to end with a grand final on May 22nd.

The annual spinoff aims to determine the best player in a given year.

The Masters grand prize is $500,000, a flashy Alex Trebek trophy to honor the late iconic host and the title of Masters Champion.

Fear not, show traditionalists, as the Masters will not interfere with normal play and both will air on those nights.

Each Masters episode consists of two half-hour games, and the winner of each receives three points, while the runner-up receives one.

The four players with the most points will advance to the semifinals, and the top three will face each other in the finals.

The bottom two will be eliminated before the two semi-final episodes starting on Friday, May 17th.

After the elimination of the fourth placed team, the final will air on May 22nd.

The round-robin tournament sees all combinations of the celebrity contestants face off before any eliminations take place, and everything is determined by points rather than dollar values.

Yogesh and Victoria had winning streaks of just three and one days, respectively, and honed their trivia skills outside of Jeopardy!.

But now that they’re at the Masters, they’ve quickly become the two to watch besides James.

Victoria and James are (or were?) co-stars on ABC’s sister show The Chase, a big draw this year.

Another big draw is the rivalry between 2024 Tournament of Champions winner Yogesh and James, who grew up close to each other and did trivia together.

That said, with three wins in three games so far, the fumble has clearly become Victoria’s crown, and fans love seeing her shine.

Danger! The Masters continues on Wednesday, May 8th with Games 5 and 6 on ABC at 8pm ET.
