Danger! contestant goes out ‘roaring’ until he makes a ‘confidence-draining’ mistake while Allison Gross scores biggest win of all time

Danger! fans are suddenly talking about Allison Gross, who won her third game in an absurd $25,000 contest on Thursday.

But the victory was bittersweet, as promising challenger Isabella Dawis lost $8,000 and her momentum in a rare Daily Double upset.

After a baffling Final Jeopardy clue in the last episode, Allison 2.0 was back for more.

The data scientist from Cleveland, Ohio faced Isabella and Jennifer Trofa.

Her ongoing streak comes just weeks after Alison Betts became season 40’s first consecutive with five wins and $121,500.

That being said, Jeopardy! The round was dominated by Isabella who had $6,600 at the first break, Allison $2,200, Jennifer $-800.

The writer, actor and musician from Minneapolis, Minnesota also won over fans and Ken Jennings with his Q&A story.

She remembers singing for the New York Philharmonic at the last minute while “performing as a singer” in New York City, drawing laughter and attention.

But things changed after the commercial break, when Isabella found the first Daily Double with a big advantage, betting all $8,000.

She couldn’t think of “Basques” in an overwhelming sense and seemed distraught.

At the end of the round and despite 15 correct answers, she had $600, Allison $4,400, Jennifer -$1,000.

Double penalty! instead, it was Allison, who hit both Daily Doubles and secured an escape with $19,600.

Isabella ended up with $4,200 and her energy seemed depleted with just three more correct answers, and Jennifer had $200.

The final risk in “FADS of the 1980s” was “A November 29, 1983 NY Times article about these used “near riot”, “adoptable”, “waiting for 8 hours” and “my life (is) in danger “”

Fans were surprised that only Allison was right with “Sour Patch Kids,” but that also further justified her win.

She added $5,400 to win $25,000 for a total of $44,598 in three days.

‘GREAT MISS’

Fans took to Reddit happy for Allison but feeling for Isabella, who clearly showed that she herself was a strong and potentially long-term player until the big momentum shift.

“Congratulations to Allison, but I was really rooting for Isabella, I loved her energy!

“Isabella came out roaring and looked dominant until that big $8,000 loss in DD1. About five clues about DJ she discarded,” wrote another.

“I don’t know if her confidence waned after the J round or if the DJ ranks weren’t in her house. I’d like to see her get a second chance.”

Another wrote: “If it weren’t for that perhaps overly confident DD all-in, Isabella could have eliminated Allison. with a little more money today.”

A third wrote: “It’s a shame what happened to Isabella on DD1 – going for an early knockout isn’t the worst strategy – but at least it wouldn’t have changed the result.”

A fourth wrote: “2024 should be a good year to be called Allison or Alison!”

“Season of the Woman continues! Victoria, Alison, Amy… and Allison coming in strong!” a fifth declared.

Allison will face two more opponents tomorrow night for a victory of four, which would practically qualify her for the next Tournament of Champions.

She would join Celebrity Jeopardy!’s Alison Betts, Dr. Amy Hummel and Lisa Ann Walter in what became a female-dominated season.

MASTERS CLASSIFICATIONS 2024

Meanwhile, Jeopardy! Masters Season 2 aired its third act of two quarterfinal matches on ABC last night.

The six elite-level competitors are defending champion James Holzhauer, Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach and newcomers Victoria Groce and Yogesh Raut.

In the first game, Yogesh – who boasted about the long list of competitors he had on his podcast – won his second game.

In the second game, star Victoria defeated teammates Chaser James and Mattea for her third victory to remain undefeated.

Now, Victoria has 9 points, Yogesh 7, James 5, Matt, Amy and Mattea have 1.

Victoria, the 2005 one-day champion, qualified by winning the recent Invitational tournament, and she has proven to be a buzzsaw who can dethrone James.

That being said, some fans are finding the special a little lackluster this year in terms of the surprise factor, as it’s unclear who the top three will be.

As one Redditor wrote: “One thing tonight was confirmed for sure: Victoria, James and Yogesh are head and shoulders above the other 3, and if anyone who isn’t one of them makes it into the Top 3 (although I think Victoria is mathematically guaranteed to be in the Top 3) finals at this rate) would be a big surprise.”

Another wrote: “Hot opinion: Daily doubles made this tournament extremely boring. Everyone always going all in makes most of these games out of control.”

The Masters began on May 1st and is scheduled to end with a grand final on May 22nd.

The annual spinoff aims to determine the best player in a given year.

The Masters grand prize is $500,000, a flashy Alex Trebek trophy to honor the late iconic host and the title of Masters Champion.

Fear not, show traditionalists, as the Masters will not interfere with normal play and both will air on those nights.

Danger! The Masters continues on Friday, May 10, with Games 7 and 8 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. and on Hulu.
