Yogesh Raut also got the win against Victoria Groce and James Holzhauer, who was last year’s Jeopardy! Master’s degree winner.

While the games may have been exciting, Season 2’s viewership was down significantly from last year.

While Game 1 in 2023 had 5.78 million viewers tune in, only 4.2 million watched this year – representing a 23% reduction.

Game 2 was down 21% with 5.49 million viewers in 2023 and 4.32 million viewers this year.

Game 3 had the same thing: a 21% drop, with 5.45 million viewers in 2023 and 4.1 million viewers in 2024.

After sharing reviews in an online thread, others weighed in on why they believe 2024 has had the least viewership so far.

“It’s clear that there is a lot of tournament fatigue based on the almost daily posts on social media and Reddit. I bet this is the culprit,” one person thought.

“Tournament fatigue as well as tiredness of seeing the same competitors over and over again,” a second added.

“Last year there was the added intrigue of James Holzhauer’s first time playing in four years,” believed a third.

“Combination of tournament fatigue, confusion about when to start (in part CAUSED by previous tournaments all being in the regular slot), novelty having worn off, and four of the six being repeats of the last Masters, one named after missing the qualification they supposedly had to play,” noted a fourth.

Danger! fans say Masters ‘not as fun as last year’ as lineup ‘lacks heat’ and top three are ‘already obvious’

“This year the Masters comes after a season full of tournaments, so people are a little tired of it. Not to mention that 4 of the 6 were at the Masters last year,” said a fifth.

“It’s not new and innovative like last year,” said another, while someone else added that the contestants “weren’t as fun as last year.”

FAN REACTIONS

Despite lower ratings this year, Jeopardy! fans expressed how much they enjoyed Friday’s game.
