The new Jeopardy! spin-off, Pop Culture Jeopardy!, has already received backlash from fans after experiencing a major technical issue, preventing hopeful contestants from signing up.
It was announced earlier this week that the game show, centered on entertainment and pop culture topics, will soon stream on Amazon Prime Video.
However, fans are already disappointed with the apparent disorganization behind the scenes after a website glitch prevented them from putting their name in the running for a new competition.
On Wednesday, the official Instagram page for Jeopardy! encouraged its followers to sign up to compete on a three-person team in a pop culture tournament in honor of the spin-off’s upcoming release.
They shared a graphic explaining the details of the match and how to register, which included a special link to the website.
But fans had difficulty accessing the site due to a technical error and expressed their frustrations in the comments.
Fan outrage
“What does a girl have to do to get access permission?” one person wrote.
“So no one else can click Create a new team, right? I created my account and now nothing?” another perplexed fan asked.
“Is anyone else being denied access?” asked a third.
“I tried to sign up twice and got an error message after submitting,” complained a fourth.
“The Womp womp website doesn’t work,” said a fifth.
“You’re looking for smart people but you can’t run your website,” someone criticized, while others begged production to “do better.”
The spin-off will put a completely new spin on the classic game show with questions based on movies, sports, TV shows, music and other notable Hollywood moments.
According to Deadlinecategories will range from “alternative rock to The Avengers, from Broadway to MMA and from Generation Z to Zendaya”.
The outlet also reported that it will be a little different from its parent game show, Jeopardy!, as contestants will compete in groups of three, rather than individually, for a “grand prize and bragging rights.”
The premiere date has not yet been revealed, but an announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
Danger! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with several guest hosts in 2021 to the present day:
Social media users shared their excitement for the spin-off, with one person writing on X, formerly Twitter: “I’ve been waiting for this my whole life.”
Another boasted confidently: “Now THIS is a show I can win.”
Danger! debuted its syndicated version in 1984 with the legendary Alex Trebek as host.
Following Alex’s November 2020 death from pancreatic cancer, the TV star was replaced by two hosts — actress Mayim Bialik, 48, and former Jeopardy! champion, Ken Jennings, 49.
Ken now hosts the one-man show and its sister shows, Celebrity Jeopardy! and Masters of Jeopardy!
It is unknown who the host of Pop Culture Jeopardy! will be.
