On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans claimed the beauty of the game show was seeing super-smart contestants grapple with pop culture issues.

“I don’t think they should do a pop culture version of Jeopardy. One of the best things about Jeopardy is seeing poindexters who know a lot about quantum physics and don’t know who Michael Jordan is,” one person joked.

“Excellent point,” agreed a second social media user.

“Yeah, that ruins it,” said a third.

“I would die knowing that Jeopardy is a perfect product that never needs to change,” wrote a fourth fan of the television show.

“One of my favorite moments was in that Contest of Champions when the writers left all three contestants stumped by asking which characters of the two friends were brother and sister,” recalled one fan.

“It’s always funny. It’s ALWAYS funny!!!” another exclaimed.

FIRST FLOP

Although fans shared their concerns ahead of Pop Culture’s release, the show already made one mistake before it aired.

On Wednesday, Jeopardy! announced the show to fans on Instagram and encouraged them to sign up.

In the graphics, potential contestants were instructed to form a group of three and take a test individually by following a link.

Danger! Masters fans spot James Holzhauer’s ‘forgotten link’ with Victoria Groce – and think that’s why he’s ‘frustrated’

In the comments section, however, fans made it clear that the link wasn’t working for them.

“The Womp womp website doesn’t work,” one reviewer pointed out.

“You’re looking for smart people, but you can’t manage your website,” said a second.

WHAT IS POP CULTURE?

Pop culture danger! was announced on May 15th and already looks completely different from its counterparts.

Danger! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with several guest hosts in 2021 to the present day:

Fans will answer clues from “alternative rock to the Avengers, from Broadway to MMA and from Gen Z to Zendaya,” according to Deadline.

Additionally, in a big change for the franchise, Pop Culture will be the first Jeopardy! iteration to not go to cable.

Instead, viewers will be able to watch the show on Prime Video.

On X, fans were immediately excited to see a new style of questions.

“Now I can win this @Jeopardy! Where do I sign up?” one fan asked when the show was announced.

“My time is now,” said a second.
