MATTEA Roach took to social media after an early elimination from Jeopardy! Masters says they may not return to the show for a while.

Mattea, 24, placed second to last and did not make it to the semifinals of the special, which begins tonight, May 17, on ABC.

Danger! Season 2 of Masters is at its limit with three episodes left.

James Holzhauer, Amy Schneider and newcomers Victoria Groce and Yogesh Raut emerged as semi-finalists.

Unfortunately, Mattea was not eliminated and was eliminated from the semi-finals in the last episode with Matt Amodio, 38.

That’s a far cry from Season 1 of the Masters, when they came in second and almost beat James for the $500,000 prize.

Fans were hoping that the two would return for next year’s JIT, but that might not be the case.

‘LIFE OUT OF DANGER!’

Mattea shared a long reflection on his Masters performance in X on Friday.

Mattea wrote: “As the Jeopardy Masters semi-finals begin today – some reflections on my time competing this year.

“My overwhelming feeling is that $75,000 is a huge prize for playing in a very mid-tier game. [a slang term for middling] Danger.

“I can’t complain about finishing fifth in such a talented field.”

Mattea called Amy a “real sister,” adding, “My Jeopardy experience felt intertwined with hers from the beginning.

“I’m happy that she will have the chance to play in the semi-finals this year – even if that chance came at my expense!”

They also said that Yogesh, Victoria and James are “real players… You won’t want to lose them and Amy in the semi-finals!!”

Mattea then discussed why they might be moving so far away from future tournaments.

“Over the past two years, I have played 44 games of Jeopardy on television – more games than all but four other players in the history of the game and more than I could reasonably ask for,” they continued.

“I loved it all and I can’t imagine my life without this experience and the people I met through it.

“But I also feel very lucky to be living an incredibly rich life now outside of Jeopardy.”

Instead, they will focus on their podcast in Toronto, Canada, and are writing a “manuscript on grief and TV,” as their father died suddenly last year while Masters was being filmed.

“My relationships with friends/family are blossoming, and I’m slowly working on a manuscript about grief and TV (yes, “writer and podcaster” is a real job!!).”

“I hope to one day return to the Jeopardy stage with a desire to win and, hopefully, in a position to perform better than I did this time.

“Until then, it’s time to hit the grass and enjoy a long, elegant weekend at the cottage,” concluded Mattea.

‘I LOVED WATCHING YOU’

Fans flooded Mattea’s post, wishing them the best of luck in the next chapter.

“Meeting you was one of the biggest highlights of the Masters for me!!” Victoria replied.

“Back for you!!” Mattea responded with a heart emoji.

“You always bring the best energy to a game,” wrote another.

“I’m excited to see what everyone does next!” she wrote a fourth.

“I loved watching you. You made Canada proud. Well done!” wrote one more.

THE BATTLE OF THE MASTERS CONTINUES

Meanwhile, Jeopardy! Masters Season 2 is heading into the semifinal round on ABC tonight.

Ken Jennings runs both games over the hour-long edition.

There will be two semi-final episodes and just one final where the winner will be crowned.

Going in, emerging star Victoria – a 2005 one-day champion who honed her skills primarily as the Chase Queen – leads with 16 points.

Fans were impressed by the 2024 JIT winner’s unexpected dominance, predicting that she would dethrone James and win.

Yogesh comes in second place with 10 points and title holder James is right behind with nine points (the producers no longer present him as “Final Boss” on air).

Amy is in fourth place with just six points, so if she doesn’t get a win tonight, it will be almost impossible for her to make it to the final.

Players will continue to face each other in all permutations, and one star will be left out per episode.

After Monday’s semi-final match, one more star will be eliminated and will determine the final three.

The Masters grand prize is $500,000, a flashy Alex Trebek trophy to honor the late iconic host and the title of Masters Champion.

The Masters semifinals air tonight and Monday, May 20, with the final on Wednesday, May 22 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
