DANGER! marked its Masters finalists Victoria Groce, Yogesh Raut and James Holzhauer in a somewhat anticlimactic fashion on Monday night.

James proved he’s still the final boss with two semi-final victories despite a worrying bet, and Amy Schneider continued competing while being eliminated.

Danger! Masters Season 2 continued with its final semi-final round on ABC tonight.

Ken Jennings hosts the special, which is worth $500,000, an Alex Trebek trophy and bragging rights.

Newcomers Yogesh and Victoria led with 4 and 3 match points in the first semi-final episode, but also played two matches each.

Return Masters James and Amy trailed with 1 and 0 points, but only played once.

That meant the tables turned and two returning Masters had two games each tonight to close the gap – but professional quizzers Victoria and Yogesh still didn’t have it easy for them.

GAME 3 – ‘WHY JAMES?’

In the semi-final of Game 3, Victoria faced Amy and James (name in quotes) while Yogesh was left out.

After her worst performance in Game 2 of the semi-finals at -3000, Amy (sitting in a chair) needed a match point here, if not the win.

At your peril! round, Victoria found the first Daily Double instantly, laughed, but was incorrect.

She made up for it by dominating the rest of the round with 5600, James 5200, Amy 0.

In their interviews, James laughed revealing that a fan mistook him for Ken, while Victoria talked about her cats and Amy got into vinyl.

On Double Jeopardy, Victoria lost another Daily Double and fell to 0.

James found the last Daily Double, but surprisingly didn’t go “all in”, instead betting 5,000 when he could have ended the game.

James wore an expression of instant regret when he hit the track and, as Mattea would say, he should have gambled more.

Going into Final Jeopardy, James “almost” but didn’t run away with 21,000, Victoria 10,800, and Amy 1,000.

Victoria and Amy were correct on the final clue with “antimony” and although James was wrong, he bet little to win.

James got 3 more match points, Victoria 1 and Amy 0, meaning she has now been eliminated.

Fans were shocked by James’ uncharacteristically conservative gamble and hope it was just a blip before the finals.

“James has never gone all-in on a daily double before tonight? Shocked to see him only bet 5k tonight. I love the high level of play on Jeopardy Masters!” a fan wrote on X.

“A very rare, non-all-in bet by James on that DD, and I bet he’s kicking himself for not betting just another 1,000 to call this one.”

“You can tell James is upset he didn’t go all in,” wrote a third.

“Jameeess, why did you do that?” she asked a fourth.

GAME 4 – ‘INCONSEQUENT’

In Game 4 of the semifinals, Amy faced James and Yogesh while Victoria was left out.

The last semi-final saw the two teammates battle it out while Amy was unable to advance, so the game was “pointless”, fans pointed out.

At your peril! round, James found the Daily Double and, most predictably, went all-in, finishing with 8,400, Yogesh 6,400 and Amy 3,000.

Amy cried out to her mother in tears, Yogesh asked to be on other podcasts, and James told a story about a fan who didn’t know who he was.

In Double Jeopardy, Yogesh picked up a huge Daily Double and James acted out the theater with the last Daily Double going through all the stages of grief before answering it correctly.

James ended up with 32,000, Yogesh 24,800, Amy 8,200.

All three succeeded as “Copperhead”, giving James back-to-back victories.

“The finals are now set, James vs Yogesh vs Victoria anti-climactic last game,” wrote one fan during the match.

“Amy has officially been eliminated, which means the last match was just for fun,” wrote another.

“I think this second game will be the third completely inconsequential game in Jeopardy history, and Amy played in all three.

The other two will be the exhibition game and the final game from last year’s Masters quarterfinals.”

“There’s no point in playing the fourth game, haha.” wrote another.

Another rejoiced: “At this point, I legitimately CANNOT pick a favorite in the finals of this Jeopardy Masters. James, Victoria, and Yogesh are all wicked, and I really think the winner will end up with whoever is luckier. path.”

One more rejoiced: “Yay, James is the final boss after all!”

James finished with 7 points, Yogesh finished with 5, Victoria 4 and Amy 0.

Amy won a $100,000 consolation prize for fourth place as the crowd cheered, and Ken promised a “heart-pounding, heart-pounding” finale.

MASTERS FINAL

Season 2 of Jeopardy! The Masters started at the beginning of this month and now it is another episode where a winner will be crowned.

The new primetime spinoff aims to determine the overall contender of six elite players.

Each Masters episode consists of two half-hour games, and the winner of each receives three points, while the runner-up receives one.

Just like the semi-finals, the final will see the classification once again cleared and the top three will face each other.

They will do so in just one episode in a two-game total points contest on Wednesday, May 22.

This means that whoever scores the highest on Wednesday alone will be named the new Masters champion.

Victoria – a 2005 One-Day Champion who honed her skills primarily as the Queen of the Hunt – became the one to beat, impressing fans with her knowledge base.

Meanwhile, defending champion James has lost four times, to everyone’s surprise, and the producers no longer present him as the “Final Boss” on air.

This is quite different from the 2023 Masters, when defending champion James lost just once; now he is “fighting” against Victoria and the 2024 ToC winner, Yogesh.

Amy narrowly made it to the semi-finals, and fans thought she had the toughest chances in the final even before tonight.

She was also very dubiously named Producer’s Choice instead of a fourth new player due to her popularity to begin with.

Unfortunately, Mattea Roach and Matt Amodio were not eliminated and were eliminated last week.

As Yogesh, Victoria and James have a very similar and aggressive playing style, the Daily Doubles will likely determine the overall champion and Wednesday should be a big success.

The Masters grand prize is $500,000, but no finalist goes home with change.

The runner-up will receive US$250,000 and third place US$100,000 and all three are guaranteed places in Season 3 of the Masters.

Masters returns on Wednesday, May 22nd with a one-night-only finale at 8pm ET on ABC.
