DANGER! star Grant DeYoung said goodbye after his winning streak came to an end last week, but that doesn’t mean he’s gone for good.
Fans were shocked to discover a little-known rule that could mean the return of the four-day winner.

Last Tuesday, Grant was defeated after a four-day winning streak.
He had accumulated a total of $81,203 for his appearance on the game show when his fifth game, in which he placed second, came to an end.
Although his time on regular Jeopardy! is over, Grant may be back for one of the show’s special screenings.
Host Ken Jennings told Grant he “had a feeling” he would return for the next Tournament of Champions despite only having four consecutive wins.
The last tournament ended a few months ago and saw Yogesh Raut, Ben Chan and Troy Meyer battle it out in the finals, with Yogesh winning it all.
Many fans were confused by the possibility of Grant being able to participate in the upcoming tournament, as they believed that competitors needed to have at least five wins to join the ToC.
“Why is he coming back,” asked a surprised fan on Instagram. “I thought about 5 wins for the toc?”

Others echoed the question, but some helpful fans explained that this isn’t really a set rule and depends on the tournament eligibility window and the performance of other players.
“Victory [Groce] was champion for only 1 day during her original appearance on Jeopardy, so maybe we’ll see [Grant] again someday,” said one fan.
“I hope so. They brought Yogesh back [Rout] and I think he only won a few games,” said a second Instagram user.

“All the champions of the 4 games ended up qualifying in the TOC in the last 3 editions”, explained another fan.
“With a shorter eligibility window and the expansion of the TOC field over the last 2 editions, I think Grant could enter the 32nd TOC,” the user continued.

“Since 2021 TOC, where all 4 champions of the game competed, some of them reached the semi-finals,” the Instagram user added.
Either way, fans have said they will root for Grant if he decides to return for the next Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions.
Another rule that fans were surprised to learn during Grant’s appearance on the show was that contestants could use chairs.
LITTLE KNOWN RULES
“Looks like we have another tall one, and his name is Grant, he was sitting in a chair tonight,” one fan speculated.
“Why do some competitors sit on chairs and others stand? Just out of curiosity, no complaints,” asked a second online user.
Grant decided to explain his situation and took to Reddit to do so.
The contestant revealed that producers allowed him to sit in a chair because he suffers from “arthritis in his back.”
Danger! Universe
Danger! it first aired in 1964 until 1975. Then, the nighttime version began in 1974. Since then, spinoffs of the game show have appeared. Here they are all:
Danger! – (primetime) 1974 to present, weekdays on ABC at 7pm.
Tournament of Champions – 1984 to present, features the top champions who have appeared on the show since the last tournament.
Celebrity Danger! – From 1992 to the present, celebrities compete against each other to raise money for charity.
Danger! Masters – 2023 to present, features six notable recent Jeopardy! champions competing against each other.
Danger! National College Championship – From 2022 to present, undergraduate students from 36 colleges and universities across America compete to win $100,000.
Other versions of Jeopardy! disappeared over the years.
“They give it if you ask,” he shared. “I have some arthritis in my back that makes it very difficult to sit still for so long.”
“I wouldn’t expect every contestant on Jeopardy! reveal why I need one, but I don’t mind saying mine,” Grant added.
He’s not the only player to recently request a seat on the game show.
NOT ALONE
Amy Schneider wore one during the finale of her season on Jeopardy! Master last week.
“I’ve watched #Jeopardy my whole life and today was the first time I saw a chair,” one viewer tweeted after noticing Amy sitting. “I thought they were always on their feet.”
“I only noticed because Amy was moving around in it,” explained the X user (ex-Twitter).
“I didn’t know that either,” admitted another fan.
After losing in the semifinals, Amy revealed on X that she wasn’t feeling well at the end of the competition.
“It’s a fact that I wasn’t feeling well the day we filmed the semi-finals,” she said.
“They offered me a chair because I was dizzy and wasn’t sure if I could make it through a whole episode,” Amy explained.
She then insisted that this was not why she lost, as she believed that although she needed to be at the top of her game to have a chance of winning, the other players did not need to be at their peak to do so.
Victoria Groce ended up winning the Masters tournament, while Yogesh Raut came second and James Holzhauer third.
