PAT Sajak bore the brunt of an angry contestant who blamed the Wheel of Fortune presenter for distracting him.
But Pat accepted the accusation calmly and responded to the player.
On a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune, Michael Bystrzycki, a master electrician from Drummonds, Tennessee, was working on a crossword puzzle round where contestants are asked to solve a series of interconnected words with the same intro.
In this case, all four words had “fire” as the first part.
Michael seemed on the verge of solving the puzzle, when he suddenly changed course and decided to spin the wheel once again.
He fell into bankruptcy – losing everything.

Fortunately for him, his turn finally came again, and after returning, he correctly resolved Fire – “works, wood, department and well”.
After celebrating his victory, Pat wanted to know what had stumped him before.
“Which one did you get shaky on the first time?” he asked, opening a can of worms.
“None. I just looked at you instead of the puzzle, and ‘works’ popped out of my head,” Michael immediately replied. “I was like, ‘Oh, he said spin, so I’m spinning’. Let’s go.”
A depressed Pat simply threw up his arms, looked directly into the camera and responded sarcastically, “It’s always my fault.”
Michael had the last laugh, though, winning the game – and then the bonus round – leaving the show with a new Infinity car and a grand total of $111,160 in cash and prizes.
INNER VOICES
It wasn’t the first time Pat was questioned by a contestant.
Late last year, a contestant named Jill was unable to solve the final round puzzle, “Voicing Our Opinion.”
That’s when she decided to give her voice.
“Come on,” she said.
Wheel of Fortune Host Timeline

Debuting in 1975, the beloved game show has had a few different iconic hosts over its nearly 50 seasons.
Pat seemed taken aback and replied, “What do you mean by that?”
She turned to the host and asked bluntly, “What kind of puzzle is this?”
Pat looked shocked by the reaction and held up a finger.
“It’s a puzzle you haven’t solved,” he replied, making the audience roar with laughter.
Jill lost an additional $40,000 for the flashy prize card, but still received her existing $27,680.
SAYING GOODBYE
Pat won’t have to play the victim much longer.
The 77-year-old announced last year that he would retire from the game show at the end of this 41st season, which is just a few days away.
In June 2023, Pat revealed that he would soon be leaving the show, and it was announced shortly after that Ryan Seacrest would take over as host.
Almost a year later, the final episode of Pat on Wheel of Fortune is almost here.
The grand finale was filmed last month and is scheduled to air on June 7th.
With Pat already preparing to leave, the show has prepared a series of tributes.
The week-long farewell will be called Thanks for the Memories and will culminate in its final episode.
