During Monday’s episode of Jeopardy!, Adriana Harmeyer, Carol Ritchey and Matthew Kahan competed.

Adriana’s winning streak continued as she maintained the lead for much of the episode.

On Final Jeopardy, contestants were asked to answer a question about colleges.

“Of the seven sister colleges, this one located at the site of the same name is the southernmost,” it said.

Carol, who was in third place in the round, guessed incorrectly: “What is Princeton?”

She was left with just $100.

Adriana, who was leading, made another incorrect guess, writing: “What is Smith?”

She lost $2,400 but still managed to maintain her lead.

Matthew, who was in second place with $4,000, guessed, “What is Bryn Maw?”

Although he wasn’t completely wrong, he forgot the “R” at the end of his answer.

Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings reveals the show’s ‘funniest wrong answer’ and shares thoughts on his Alex Trebek-style makeover

As a result, his response was rejected and he lost $2,000.

HARD DECISION

On social media, viewers expressed their dissatisfaction with the result.

“I have to disagree with @jeopardy tonight,” one person wrote on X.

“You disqualified a contestant because he didn’t spell Bryn Mawr correctly. You’ve made a lot of spelling mistakes in the past if the answer was correct. How about consistency?”

Danger! Host timeline

Danger! has had a tumultuous history regarding hosts following the death of the iconic Alex Trebek in 2020. Here are every host since the game show’s inception in 1964.

Art Fleming – from 1964 to 1975, he was the original host of the daytime version of Jeopardy! on NBC.

Alex Trebek – From 1984 to 2020, the late, great Alex hosted the modern iteration of Jeopardy! for 36 years until his death from pancreatic cancer.

Guest Hosts – 2020 to 2021, Jeopardy! tested a series of guest hosts for one- or two-week stints, including Anderson Cooper, LaVar Burton and Aaron Rodgers.

Mike Richards – 2021, he was named host for a week before resigning amid controversy. He was the show’s executive producer at the time.

Mayim Bialik – 2021 to 2023, when Mike was announced as the show’s new host, Mayim was chosen to host tournaments and primetime specials.

Mayim and Ken Jennings – 2022 to 2023, 74-time champion Ken (the winningest contestant of all time) joined Mayim as guest host and they shared hosting duties.

Ken Jennings – 2023 to present. Last December, Mayim announced on Instagram that she would “no longer” host Jeopardy! After a long hiatus, having defended the writers’ strike, Ken was named sole host.

Ken now runs all editions of Jeopardy! including Celebrity Jeopardy!, the late night show and other primetime specials such as Masters.

Another danger! fan seemed to agree.

“I was born in Bryn Mawr and most residents don’t even know how to spell it. That was a low blow, taking away a guy’s game,” posted a second person.

“Matthew was robbed. I thought spelling didn’t matter on Final Jeopardy,” another person complained.

BIG TURNOVER

This isn’t the first time Jeopardy! fans were upset with one response.

During the May 30 show, fans were furious when the show incorrectly credited a song to a band that did not write it.

Competitor Adriana Harmeyer selected the “Songs in the Key of Life” category.

“In the title of a Rascal Flatts song, ‘Life is’ this kind of road,” Ken read.

“What is ‘A Highway?’” Adriana replied.

“Yes, it is,” Ken said back.

She won $400, which brought her total to $10,200.

Artist Tom Cochrane originally wrote Life Is a Highway, adding it to his album Mad Mad World in 1991.

In 2006, Rascal Flatts covered the song from the Cars soundtrack.

Fans jumped on the X to react to Jeopardy’s big mistake.

“It’s very offensive for Tom Cochrane to call Life Is a Highway a Rascal Flatts song,” criticized one fan.

“Why did Jeopardy decide that Life Is a Highway is a Rascal Flatts song when they just produced an inferior cover?” someone scoffed.

“Rascal Flatts didn’t write Life Is a Highway! You will pay for this disrespect!” a third critic spoke out.

“Rascall Flatts was the wrong answer to a question on Jeopardy!” a fourth viewer wrote on X.

“Ahem! Tom Cochrane is the original artist on Life Is a Highway,” another pointed out.

FORGET ABOUT IT

Shortly afterwards, all three players were unable to find the correct answer in the Producer Tags category.

“The Sony Digital tag can be heard in this song by ILoveMakonnen and Drake, named after a day of the week that gets the ‘club excited,’” said Ken.

“What is Thursday?” Amy Yao guessed incorrectly.

“No. I’m sorry,” Ken replied.

“What is Friday?” Josh Moss questioned.

“Also incorrect,” said Ken.

“Adriana? Five days left.”

Time ran out before anyone could find the right answer, which was Tuesday.

“None of these people have ever been to the club on a Tuesday, respectfully,” joked one viewer.

“The way I shouted that answer in a second! Lots of laughs,” another person added.
