DANGER! fans noticed a trick previously used by late host Alex Trebek that they wish Ken Jennings would perform.
Ken, 50, became the official host of the popular game show in 2020 after longtime host Alex Trebek died of pancreatic cancer.
Alex hosted 37 seasons of Jeopardy!, with Ken and former host Mayim Bialik, 48, later taking over the role.
After Mayim was fired at the end of 2023, Ken – who once had a 74-game winning streak on the show – took over the reins.
On Reddit, viewers recently recalled some of their favorite quirks that Alex would do on the show.
“Which of Alex’s hosting quirks do you miss most? Is it the way he pronounced ‘gender’? ‘Oooh, sore?’ ‘…Good for you?’” one person asked.
Another danger! fans noticed some of Ken’s hosting characteristics, which they compared to Alex’s.
“I noticed that Ken only prefaces a clue with ‘answer…’ when it’s the daily duplicate,” someone pointed out.
“Alex did this too, but he would also use it on some non-DDs. Kept you alert,” they added.
“I noticed that Alex definitely did this a lot more in the early seasons, but very rarely in the more recent ones,” said a second.
“I appreciate that this is something Ken does in daily doubles. I don’t think it’s something any of the guest hosts have done,” they continued.
“I definitely prefer this to Mayim’s ‘oh, it’s a Daily Double’. I have to remind everyone of Jeopardy’s upside-down Q&A setup,” said a third.
“Probably a habit of being a presenter for so long that he started with ‘answer’ or ‘the answer is” a lot in the early days of the show. The tracks were very different back then, in terms of structure,” added a fourth.
ALEX WOULD NEVER BE
When it comes to comparing the two hosts, some fans recently criticized Ken for doing something that Alex “would never have done” as a host.
Earlier this week, the old Jeopardy! The champion was criticized for making a huge pronunciation error on Double Jeopardy!.
Ken gave the clue: “There is an active volcano in this country’s Taal Lake, which occupies a caldera.”
Danger! Host timeline

Danger! has had a tumultuous history regarding hosts following the death of the iconic Alex Trebek in 2020. Here are every host since the game show’s inception in 1964.
Art Fleming – from 1964 to 1975, he was the original host of the daytime version of Jeopardy! on NBC.
Alex Trebek – From 1984 to 2020, the late, great Alex hosted the modern iteration of Jeopardy! for 36 years until his death from pancreatic cancer.
Guest Hosts – 2020 to 2021, Jeopardy! tested a series of guest hosts for one- or two-week stints, including Anderson Cooper, LaVar Burton and Aaron Rodgers.
Mike Richards – 2021, he was named host for a week before resigning amid controversy. He was the show’s executive producer at the time.
Mayim Bialik – 2021 to 2023, when Mike was announced as the show’s new host, Mayim was chosen to host tournaments and primetime specials.
Mayim and Ken Jennings – 2022 to 2023, 74-time champion Ken (the winningest contestant of all time) joined Mayim as guest host and they shared hosting duties.
Ken Jennings – 2023 to present. Last December, Mayim announced on Instagram that she would “no longer” host Jeopardy! after a long hiatus, having defended the writers’ strike, and Ken was named sole host.
Ken now runs all editions of Jeopardy! including Celebrity Jeopardy!, the late night show and other primetime specials such as Masters.
Neither player appeared to respond, with Ken eventually clarifying: “In the Philippines.”
On Reddit, fans quickly picked up on the TV presenter’s mispronunciation of the lake itself.
“Ken mispronounced it as alto, not ta-al, two syllables,” one person wrote.
“I wish Ken would learn the correct way to pronounce Taal,” a second added.
“Yeah, kind of disrespectful, Trebek wouldn’t have done that,” another countered.
HERE FOR A GOOD TIME
Despite some negative reactions, viewers have also noticed how much more entertaining Ken makes the show after rewatching Alex’s previous episodes on Pluto TV.
“First, [Ken] reads the clues so quickly that players can finish them all. I can’t even remember the last time they didn’t answer all the questions. And as a result of that, they have more for their contestants to interview,” one person wrote in another online thread.
“I’ve been watching the previous seasons with Alex on PlutoTV and there’s no doubt that Ken has a faster pace when reading clues,” said a second.
“It seems more fun with Ken as host than with Alex, but I also love Alex. Also, Ken is a former champion that I like because he can relate to the competitors and talk to them about things that Alex couldn’t,” wrote another. .
