DANGER! fans may be about to get a new host for the upcoming pop culture spinoff on Amazon Prime.

Katie Nolan, 37, former ESPN host, podcaster and runner-up on Celebrity Jeopardy! 2023, hinted that she is in negotiations for the big show.

Pop culture danger! is a new spinoff that premieres on Amazon Prime in the coming months (premiere date TBA).

But who would host the new version of Jeopardy! no one knows – perhaps until now.

On Tuesday, Katie was a guest on “What is… A Jeopardy! Podcast.”

During the interview, she refused to confirm or deny that she was in talks for the role, rather than Ken Jennings.

“There has been some speculation online about you as the potential host of Pop Culture Jeopardy!,” podcast host Emily Heller asked.

“Can you respond to these rumors?”

“I can’t,” Katie replied, eliciting a gigantic laugh from the interviewer, who seemed surprised.

“But I will say I would love that and it would be something I would be interested in talking about.”

She clarified: “Whether I have spoken or not, I will just say that I cannot respond.”

“But I will say it was an honor to be mentioned.

“I’m on the Jeopardy subreddit and one day I saw someone mention me and said, ‘It’s me! That’s sick!'”

“No one knows what could happen. What should come to you will come to you.

“So let’s wait and see,” she concluded.

NEW NOLAN HOST?

Pop culture danger! was announced in May and is the first version of the long-running quiz show exclusively on streaming.

As The US Sun was first to report, Katie had an early hint that she was involved.

Right when the spinoff was announced, Katie quietly retweeted the news of Jeopardy! when it broke.

She also has close ties to showrunner Michael Davies and recently toured the game show on Inside Jeopardy! Live.

Viewers took to Reddit thinking his new post was a sign, especially since sports fall under pop culture.

“Katie Nolan retweeted this article and has worked with Michael Davies before,” wrote one Redditor at the time. “That would be fun,” agreed another.

During Inside Jeopardy! Live in New York City in the spring, EP Davies also stated that he wanted to diversify the show with “male hosts of color” for future spinoffs.

Katie left ESPN in 2023 and previously hosted Fox Sports’ Garbage Time until 2017, where she became famous for her steamy scenes.

She got engaged to comedian Dan Soder in December 2022.

KATIE AS CONTESTANT

Katie competed on Season 2 of Celebrity Jeopardy! presented by Ken this winter and reached the final.

She was very entertaining and badmouthed her male competitors who had previously competed during the $1 million charity tournament.

In one episode, she dissed single white actor Steven Weber, 62.

Steven was bragging on stage about how he had won a New York Times obituary category.

Katie turned to him and asked shyly, “Looking for your friends?” causing gasps in the audience.

She also defeated Law and Order’s Christopher Meloni in the first round in an ultra-rare tiebreaker, who was reportedly not happy about it.

Katie lost the special to Parent Trap’s Lisa Ann Walter in the final, who won the grand prize.

WHAT IS IT: DANGER OF POP CULTURE?

Amazon Prime Video brought a new take on Jeopardy! which will be broadcast exclusively on the platform.

The spinoff will be called Pop Culture Jeopardy! and will feature three major changes to the format.

Instead of answering general knowledge questions like players on the standard edition of the game show, contestants will answer questions about pop culture topics like music, movies, sports, TV and more.

Additionally, the show will be broadcast only instead of on free-to-air TV like the late-night show.

Finally, there will not be three individual contestants competing against each other. Instead, there will be three teams of three facing each other.

Jeopardy.com describes it this way: “Contestants, playing in teams of three, will need to be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers, Broadway to MMA, Gen Z to Zendaya.

Danger! Host timeline

Danger! has had a tumultuous history regarding hosts following the death of the iconic Alex Trebek in 2020. Here are every host since the game show’s inception in 1964.

Art Fleming – from 1964 to 1975, he was the original host of the daytime version of Jeopardy! on NBC.

Alex Trebek – From 1984 to 2020, the late, great Alex hosted the modern iteration of Jeopardy! for 36 years until his death from pancreatic cancer.

Guest Hosts – 2020 to 2021, Jeopardy! tested a series of guest hosts for one- or two-week stints, including Anderson Cooper, LaVar Burton and Aaron Rodgers.

Mike Richards – 2021, he was named host for a week before resigning amid controversy. He was the show’s executive producer at the time.

Mayim Bialik – 2021 to 2023, when Mike was announced as the show’s new host, Mayim was chosen to host tournaments and primetime specials.

Mayim and Ken Jennings – 2022 to 2023, 74-time champion Ken (the winningest contestant of all time) joined Mayim as guest host and they shared hosting duties.

Ken Jennings – 2023 to present. Last December, Mayim announced on Instagram that she would “no longer” host Jeopardy! after a long hiatus, having defended the writers’ strike, and Ken was named sole host.

Ken now runs all editions of Jeopardy! including Celebrity Jeopardy!, the late night show and other primetime specials such as Masters.

“They compete in a tournament-style event for the grand prize and bragging rights.”

The ad never mentioned the only Jeopardy! host Ken or fired Mayim Bialik were involved.

Other names fans have suggested include former champions Buzzy Cohen and Sam Buttrey.

Pop culture danger! will have more details in the coming months, including premiere date and presenter.
