On the June 17 episode, Ty Patton, Adriana Harmeyer, and Kelsey Kaunisviita Vockrodt competed against each other.

There were only two questions left on the board in the first round of Jeopardy!.

Ty chose the “Human Race” category for $1,000.

The clue said: “using animal fat and sticks, a team of Spanish researchers tried to solve these kinds of obvious questions about cave paintings.”

Ty played first and hesitated when Ken, 50, visited.

“What’s ‘how they painted them?” he said.

Ken told him his answer was incorrect when Kelsey entered.

“What’s ‘What kind of paint did they use?’” she said, in a questioning tone.

Ken told her that her answer wasn’t right.

Adriana didn’t care and time ran out before anyone could give the correct answer.

CONFUSED COMPETITORS

Ken tried to explain the correct answer, but the contestants seemed confused.

“They used animal fat and sticks to try to light the place,” he said.

“The question is, ‘How did they paint in a dark cave?'”

The contestants stood quietly, looking confused, before moving onto the final clue.

Danger! Host timeline

Danger! has had a tumultuous history regarding hosts following the death of the iconic Alex Trebek in 2020. Here are every host since the game show’s inception in 1964.

Art Fleming – from 1964 to 1975, he was the original host of the daytime version of Jeopardy! on NBC.

Alex Trebek – From 1984 to 2020, the late, great Alex hosted the modern iteration of Jeopardy! for 36 years until his death from pancreatic cancer.

Guest Hosts – 2020 to 2021, Jeopardy! tested a series of guest hosts for one- or two-week stints, including Anderson Cooper, LaVar Burton and Aaron Rodgers.

Mike Richards – 2021, he was named host for a week before resigning amid controversy. He was the show’s executive producer at the time.

Mayim Bialik – 2021 to 2023, when Mike was announced as the show’s new host, Mayim was chosen to host tournaments and primetime specials.

Mayim and Ken Jennings – 2022 to 2023, 74-time champion Ken (the winningest contestant of all time) joined Mayim as guest host and they shared hosting duties.

Ken Jennings – 2023 to present. Last December, Mayim announced on Instagram that she would “no longer” host Jeopardy! after a long hiatus, having defended the writers’ strike, and Ken was named sole host.

Ken now runs all editions of Jeopardy! including Celebrity Jeopardy!, the late night show and other primetime specials such as Masters.

‘really clumsy’

Reddit users criticized Ken for the way he phrased the question.

They also said that the show made him very clumsy.

“Does anyone else hate that question about cave painting? It felt really clunky and hard to tell what they were looking for as an answer,” asked one fan.

“Yes, it was atrocious. Even Ken couldn’t quite articulate the correct answer,” replied one Reddit user.

“The biggest problem is that there are several answers that could fit in there besides the one they were looking for. Both Ty’s and Kelsey’s worked. The clue said this ‘obvious’ question. It wasn’t very obvious if any of them the three players understood and two offered other plausible answers,” said another.

“Yes I agree. Sometimes there are clues like this where the answer is some weird quasi-phrase they’re looking for,” a third added.

Another fan joked that perhaps the clue was written in the dark, referring to the answer.

“That was horrible, I really hope they don’t do anything like that clumsy in the future,” said another.

One last fan said they thought Ty’s answer was close enough to the answer.

Adriana took home the win on Monday night, bringing her total to 14 wins.
