Recently, a fan questioned whether it was appropriate for Ken, 49, to be friends with Jeopardy! in a Reddit thread.

Since Ken is a presenter and former Jeopardy! champion, the fan, wondered if Ken’s proximity to the contestants would compromise the integrity of the game show.

“One thing that always gets mentioned when previous contestants are asked about Alex [Trebek] it’s just that most didn’t know him very well because the requirement for the host to maintain distance from contestants is considered very important to maintain the integrity of the show. How does this work with Ken?” asked the fan.

Fellow Jeopardy! fans attempted to answer the question in their responses.

“This must have been a known risk in choosing Ken as host and (apparently) a risk considered acceptable,” someone responded.

“I think there was a thorough review of any potential conflicts of interest, and Ken would probably have to detail the extent of any pre-existing relationships with former competitors.”

They added: “The Jeopardy! has gone to great lengths to avoid any potential conflicts over the years, which likely gives them a bit of wiggle room in this unique situation.

Also, my understanding is that Ken had to agree that he would never compete on the show again. I believe other former contestants were not willing to give up even to get on a list of potential hosts.”

Additionally, an unnamed Jeopardy! champ added some tips to the forum to help clear things up.

“During the JIT taping, just like Alex would do during tournaments, Ken showed up while we were all together, got a quick welcome, and said (paraphrasing) ‘I see some old friends, some new ones, some familiar faces, some people I haven’t seen before. the opportunity to meet; one of the worst parts about hosting J! is that I can’t hang out with you, some of my good friends,'” the champion wrote.

THE DEVIL’S DEAL

“The firewall between the production and the contestant is real. This was the only time we saw him without a suit and tie and not as a host (aside from the final photos).”

The champion disclosed how Ken interacts with the competitors can be attributed to the “Devil’s Agreement”.

The champion revealed that the Devil’s Deal meant that a “Jeopardy! host and/or guest host will never be able to play again.”

They expressed, “You’ve seen it work, so you’re out.”

Danger! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with several guest hosts in 2021 to the present day:

WHAT’S THE TRUTH?

Another former Jeopardy! the competitor signed the champion, interjecting: “[Ken] made a similar comment to us during the recording. That he would love to hang out with Jeopardy! competitors because we are his type of people, but he legally cannot.

“He said it as a joke, but it didn’t exactly seem like a joke either.”

Although former Jeopardy! The contestants tried to explain that Ken was not allowed to hang out with the contestants, but this still didn’t convince some fans.

“I think some of the photos of the JIT presenter prove that Ken was getting together with old friends he hadn’t seen in a while,” replied one.

“Clearly a conflict of interest; he gives all the answers to the competitors,” said another.

Ken won 74 Jeopardy! consecutive games before taking over as permanent host in 2022.

Before his game show days, Jennings worked as a software engineer.

Ken is married to Mindy and they have two children, Dylan and Caitlin Jennings.
