On Wednesday, June 27, 2024, the official Jeopardy! Instagram account previously announced that Basile was the newest addition to the game show’s Contest of Champions.

Danger! also announced the news simultaneously in X.

“Honored to do ToC, thank you for all the support from Jeopardy fans as well as the Survivor community,” he tweeted.

“They’re not kidding when they say it’s a family. And a special shoutout to @anthonyd46 for all the content, screenshots, etc,” he added.

DO NOT DISTURB

Even before the announcement, Jeopardy! Viewers had already shared their thoughts on Basile, and they weren’t pretty.

“Drew doesn’t know what it’s like to be a humble winner. Instead, he’s a nasty winner,” one Instagram user commented.

“Someone please break his streak… Please. I really hoped he wouldn’t make it to ToC,” another user commented.

“Can anyone see through his false humility? Waiting for a new winner,” wrote another user.

Danger! host Ken Jennings leaves Drew Basile speechless with Survivor news ahead of alum’s ‘super excited’ 5th win

“If nasty victory was a person,” one user tweeted.

“I could do without his ‘bro’ attitude, but maybe he’ll get over it in the winter,” another user added.

Some danger! fans have even vowed to boycott the show until a new champion takes Drew’s place.

“I’m a regular viewer but I’m done until Drew leaves,” one user tweeted.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Drew Basile managed to defeat then-champion Adriana Harmeyer, who won a total of $351,600 during her 15-fight winning streak.

“He’s arrogant and full of himself. So obnoxious. We hope his run is short and his defeat is glorious.”

Still, Basile managed to turn some viewers into die-hard supporters or, at the very least, lukewarm believers.

DESIGNED TEAM

“Go, Drew. I hated you on Survivor, but I like you on Jeopardy!” wrote user X.

“Shocking to see a Twitter post about Drew and not see all the comments hating him,” one user tweeted.

Drew acknowledged the haters on his social media, saying it was time to "prove them right," in relation to those who called him "knows all"

“Our Survivor and Jeopardy legend kingggg,” commented one user, alongside a crown emoji.

“I think he’s very competitive and can’t help himself,” another user wrote.

“How else could you survive Survivor for so long?”

“Listening to his interview about all sorts of students who skipped 7th period to watch Jeopardy with him, the class officer, he seems well-liked and respected by those who know him,” they added.

“Think about it before betting on such a good player.”

Even Survivor got in on the action, commenting three clapping emojis on his official Instagram, @survivorcbs.

BASIS THE BUSINESS

Any danger! The contestant who wins at least five games in the program’s current season will be eligible to compete in the Tournament of Champions.

“It’s not my first rodeo, Ken,” Basile told host Ken Jennings during his first Jeopardy! interview.

“I had the privilege of being on Survivor recently,” he continued.

“So I stayed there for 23 days out of 26 with no clothes, no shelter, no food.”

“[It] It took a bit of a toll on my head, but I hope, you know, I’m back on the horse for Jeopardy.

“Survivor is very hard on the body, but Jeopardy is hard on the mind,” he added.

Drew Basile has now won more than $100,000 during his six-fight winning streak and secured his spot on the show's spin-off, Tournament of Champions.

Tournament of Champions typically airs after the show’s regular season ends.

The game show’s 40th season is set to end on July 26, 2024, although fans shouldn’t expect TOC to air immediately in August.

Most of the show’s previous tournaments aired in November, with the latest TOC taking place from February 23 to March 19, 2024.

The Survivor alum is doing a little better on the quiz game show than he did on the survival competition show, though time will tell if he can top his 23-day streak on the island.
