JEOPARDY champion Drew Basile was criticized for the way he played a recent match.
On Thursday’s episode, the former Survivor sought his seventh victory against opponents Luke Hemphill and Jayake Kolli.
Before Jeopardy’s first commercial break, Drew got off to a slow start with $2,600 – putting him in second place behind Jayake with $4,600.
At the end of the first round, Jayake was still in the lead with $5,800, but Drew was slowly catching up as he had $4,200 and Luke had $2,600.
After the Double Jeopardy segment ended, Drew was well ahead with $19,000, and Luke and Jayake were tied with $7,800.
During the Final Jeopardy round, the three contestants had to answer a question that related to the topic of Entrepreneurs.
Jayaker got it right and ended up with $7,800.
Luke, unfortunately, didn’t get the answer right and lost everything except $800.
Fortunately for Drew, he won his seventh game in a row after getting the question wrong, but only lost $1,000.
The former TV personality won the game for $18,000.
Since his first win, Drew has won over $129,000.
DREW’S DAILY DOUBLES
On a popular Reddit forum dedicated to the game show, a fan discussed how Drew’s Daily Doubles bets saved him from being eliminated.
The commentator said: “Drew’s performance in the Daily Doubles was definitely the difference in his run.
“That allowed him to overcome some sloppy plays.”
The contestant got the first Daily Double at the start of the show.
With just $600, he bet $1,000 but didn’t get the answer right.
Danger! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with several guest hosts in 2021 to the present day:
However, Drew received his second Daily Double in the Double Jeopardy round.
He bet $4,000, with host Ken Jennings calling it a big bet.
Luckily for him, he got the answer right.
MORE ABOUT DREW
During his first appearance on the show, Drew revealed that he was a contestant on the 45th season of Survivor.
“I lasted 23 out of 26 days without shelter or food, which took a bit of a toll on my mind, but I hope to be back on the Jeopardy path!”
Ken was curious if Survivor and Jeopardy had any similarities.
“Survivor is hard on the body, but Jeopardy! is hard on the mind, so I’ll tell you later.”
Drew will return for his eighth game on Friday night.
