A JEOPARDY producer revealed the skill Drew Basile should develop before participating in a high-stakes spin-off game.
On Friday, the Survivor 45 alum concluded his Jeopardy journey after losing his eighth game.
Drew first appeared on June 19, completely obliterating the competition as she ended Adriana Harmeyer’s impressive 15-day streak.
On Monday’s new episode of the Inside Jeopardy! podcast, producers Sarah Whitcomb Foss and Buzzy Cohen discussed Drew and Adriana’s gaming stats.
Sarah and Buzzy talked about what Drew needs to work on most as he prepares for the Tournament of Champions.
“One statistic that isn’t so great for Drew is Final Jeopardy,” Sarah said.
“Obviously, with so many fugitives, he didn’t really need it, but he only had three to eight, so about 38 percent [of correct FJ responses].
“[So] when you compare that to Adriana who was 13 by 16 [of correct Final Jeopardy guesses]probably something Drew will work on before ToC, I think.”
‘STAY IN THE MOMENT’
In response, Buzzy explained how a contestant can miss the mark on Final Jeopardy questions.
“This is something specific that you can improve and work on. I think Final Jeopardy works really differently, it’s written differently as we discussed with our head writers.
“I think a lot of it is difficult for people, I don’t know if it was a challenge for Drew, but it was a challenge for me, is that you look at this category for a long time.
“Because you start thinking about what it could be and then the clue comes along and you’re like, ‘Wow, this isn’t what I thought it would be.’
“So, you know, working on just not completely clearing your mind, but staying in the moment is definitely something that I think Drew, given how good the rest of his play is, I think he’ll be able to punch. ”
DREW VS ADRIANA
On the last episode of Adriana’s game show on June 19, Drew had a $23,600 lead going into Final Jeopardy.
During her season, Adriana had the 11th longest streak of all time on the show.
Meanwhile, Adriana came in third place with $9,300, more than a thousand dollars less than her opponent Telka Sauter.
Danger! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with several guest hosts in 2021 to the present day:
Telka was the only player to get the FJ question right, but Drew, knowing he had won the game, wrote Jeopardy! as a joke response – finishing his game with $18,601.
However, fans found Adriana and Drew’s exchange somewhat awkward when they shook hands after the game.
After host Ken Jennings, 50, ended the show, the camera panned to the three contestants who shook each other’s hands.
Drew was the first to initiate the handshake, awkwardly extending his hand for Adriana to shake.
She waited a moment before briefly shaking his hand before walking over to Telka.
Both Telka and Drew were smiling while Adriana kept a straight face.
On Friday, Drew said goodbye to Jeopardy and fans congratulated the new winner, Cat Pisacano – who lost her second game on Monday.
