DANGER! was accused of allowing a wrong answer to go unnoticed.

Fans of the game show are still angry that they allowed Drew Basile to give the incorrect answer and earn money for it.

During Double Jeopardy! on June 25, Drew chose the “Kingdom” category.

The entire category was chosen except the $400 question.

“The United Kingdom was created by the union of these two kingdoms,” the question said.

Drew walked in and replied, “What is England and Scotland?”

“Okay,” said host Ken Jennings.

Drew received the $400 for the question, pushing him further into the lead.

He also answered the next question correctly and ended up with $11,800 at the end of the round.

He played against Staci Garner and Alan Elverum.

‘THIS IS INCORRECT’

Reddit users discussed the game and said that Drew’s answer was technically wrong.

“The clue was ‘The United Kingdom was created by the union of these 2 kingdoms’. Technically, the correct answer should have been Great Britain and Ireland,” wrote one fan.

Danger! champion Drew Basile boasts he ‘knew the answer’ to the clue that ended his streak and reveals the real reason for his defeat

“It was also an incorrect question, not an answer,” said another.

“The United Kingdom was formed almost 100 years later, in 1801, when Great Britain joined the Kingdom of Ireland,” added a third.

“Yeah, I don’t know how Ireland missed out on that track,” said another.

“That is correct and I am still angry about it. It didn’t affect the outcome of the game, but it was unequivocally the wrong answer,” wrote another.

Danger! Host timeline

Danger! has had a tumultuous history regarding hosts following the death of the iconic Alex Trebek in 2020. Here are every host since the game show’s inception in 1964.

Art Fleming – from 1964 to 1975, he was the original host of the daytime version of Jeopardy! on NBC.

Alex Trebek – From 1984 to 2020, the late, great Alex hosted the modern iteration of Jeopardy! for 36 years until his death from pancreatic cancer.

Guest Hosts – 2020 to 2021, Jeopardy! tested a series of guest hosts for one- or two-week stints, including Anderson Cooper, LaVar Burton and Aaron Rodgers.

Mike Richards – 2021, he was named host for a week before resigning amid controversy. He was the show’s executive producer at the time.

Mayim Bialik – 2021 to 2023, when Mike was announced as the show’s new host, Mayim was chosen to host tournaments and primetime specials.

Mayim and Ken Jennings – 2022 to 2023, 74-time champion Ken (the winningest contestant of all time) joined Mayim as guest host and they shared hosting duties.

Ken Jennings – 2023 to present. Last December, Mayim announced on Instagram that she would “no longer” host Jeopardy! After a long hiatus, having defended the writers’ strike, Ken was named sole host.

Ken now runs all editions of Jeopardy! including Celebrity Jeopardy!, the late night show and other primetime specials such as Masters.

“Thankfully the incorrect $400 Kingdoms clue didn’t affect the game. The kingdoms of England and Scotland joined the Kingdom of Great Britain almost a century before the formation of the United Kingdom,” said one last fan.

GET A CLUE!

Drew’s winning streak ended on June 28 and a producer revealed what he did wrong.

On Monday’s new episode of the Inside Jeopardy! podcast, producers Sarah Whitcomb Foss and Buzzy Cohen discussed Drew and Adriana Harmeyer’s gaming statistics.

Sarah and Buzzy talked about what Drew needs to work on most as he prepares for the Tournament of Champions.

“One statistic that isn’t so great for Drew is Final Jeopardy,” Sarah said.

“Obviously, with so many fugitives, he didn’t really need it, but he only had three to eight, so about 38 percent [of correct FJ responses].

“[So] when you compare that to Adriana who was 13 by 16 [of correct Final Jeopardy guesses]probably something Drew will work on before ToC, I think.”

Adriana has an impressive 15-day winning streak.

Buzzy said that Final Jeopardy! it is something the contestant must work on and improve on because it is written differently than the other clues.
