DANGER! host Ken Jennings was criticized by viewers for giving a clue that apparently was not verified before the show.

Contestants Zoe Strassfield, Matt Brooks and Cat Pisacano found a clue in the Rhyme Time category during Jeopardy! airing.

The category sought a synonymous answer consisting of two rhyming words.

All three players failed to get the $800 clue, which was “A Kayak Inspection.”

Ken, 50, noted that all the contestants were “stunned” when he revealed the answer: “A canoe review.”

After the episode aired, some viewers thought the players had been mistaken in realizing that kayaks were different from canoes.

“Kayaks are not canoes. That was a painful clue,” one person wrote in a Jeopardy!-themed online thread.

“Yes, I thought kayaks were kayaks!” a second agreed.

“Kayaks and canoes are not synonymous. As an avid boater, that one really stuck in my throat,” said a furious third.

“I never understand how errors like this, so easy to check, get through,” added a fourth.

“Anyone who has used both knows how absolutely different they are,” agreed another. “I was unhappy with that track.”

Others noted that while kayaks and canoes may be “related,” they still should not have been recognized as the same thing on the track.

ALL WRONG?

Viewers often show their frustration with the clues and answers given on the long-running game show, which ran again last week.

During Double Jeopardy! on June 25, former Survivor contestant Drew Basile chose the “Kingdom” category.

Danger! fans accuse show of ‘unequivocally wrong’ track and ‘are still angry about it’

“The United Kingdom was created by the union of these two kingdoms,” said the $400 question.

“What is England and Scotland?” Drew responded, which was accepted as the correct answer.

The $400 win put Drew further into the lead, ahead of his opponents Staci Garner and Alan Elverum.

Danger! Universe

Danger! it first aired in 1964 until 1975. Then, the nighttime version began in 1974. Since then, many spinoffs of the game show have emerged. Here they are all:

Second Chance Tournament – 2022 to Present features hand-selected non-winners from the previous season, where the prize is entry into the Champions Wildcard.

Champions Wildcard – 2023 to present, features all one-, two-, and three-day champions from the previous season that are eligible for entry into the Tournament of Champions.

Danger! Invitational Tournament (distribution) – from 2023 to the present, features big names from the past invited by producers to compete for a place in the Masters.

Pop Culture Jeopardy (streaming) – from 2024 to present, will feature teams of three in charge of pop culture trivia on Amazon Prime, host and air date to be determined

Danger! eliminated specialized tournaments, such as University Tournaments, Children’s Week and Teacher’s Tournament, to move towards a more sporting model, with the Masters being the top of the Jeopardy pyramid.

Other versions of Jeopardy! have also failed over the years, such as Sports Jeopardy!.

On Reddit, fans discussed Drew’s answer and claimed it was technically wrong.

“The clue was ‘The United Kingdom was created by the union of these 2 kingdoms’. Technically, the correct answer should have been Britain and Ireland,” one person wrote.

“The United Kingdom was formed almost 100 years later, in 1801, when Great Britain joined the Kingdom of Ireland,” said a second.

“That is correct and I am still angry about it. It didn’t affect the outcome of the game, but it was unequivocally the wrong answer,” wrote another.

Others noted that it was an “incorrect question” and that Ireland should be somewhere on the track.

“Thankfully the incorrect $400 Kingdoms clue didn’t affect the game. The kingdoms of England and Scotland were united into the Kingdom of Great Britain almost a century before the formation of the United Kingdom,” another person added.

Drew’s winning streak ended on June 28 following his acquisition of Adriana Harmeyer, who had secured 15 consecutive victories throughout June.
