Drew, 23, discussed his Jeopardy! aired on a new episode of Rob Has a Podcast with Survivor veterans Rob Cesternino and Stephen Fishbach.

Drew, the first Survivor contestant to appear on the game show, was defeated last Friday, June 28, after a thrilling run winning $129,601.

As fans know, he also received mixed reactions about his on-stage behavior.

Drew often spoke between clues and gave abbreviated answers.

When he won, he clapped his hands, raised his fists and beat his chest, angering many spectators.

On the podcast, Drew revealed that after his third win – which resulted from a rare tiebreaker clue – he was so excited that the show reshot the ending.

‘BIG REACTION’

“Obviously, I had a big reaction at the end of the tiebreak because, you know, it’s like a Western standoff,” he shared.

“It got such a huge reaction that I think we had to re-record it.”

Drew recalled the moment he was cut off and was asked to tone it down.

“I was like, ‘Come on!’” he shared, yelling and clenching his fists.

“They said, ‘Aren’t we going to do this?’” one of the podcast’s co-hosts asked with a nervous laugh.

“Well, Jeopardy! is so classy. I got a huge reaction,” Drew explained.

At the time, Drew and his opponent Josh Heit finished with $20,000 after Final Jeopardy, giving them a bonus clue.

Drew came up first with the correct answer, winning the game.

In the second take, the champion had a less exaggerated reaction (see below).

‘I LOVE SHOWBOATING’

Drew also discussed his reputation as a polarizing Jeopardy! competitor because of the way he acted when he won and how casually he played.

“It was a little muted compared to some of the hate you get from Survivor,” he said, implying he wasn’t that bothered.

Drew didn’t stop there, calling the negative comments about him “incoherent.”

“Negative people… are retired, they’re a little older, you know? They’re still struggling with technology, they haven’t discovered spell check, for example… It’s hard to be so outraged when it’s a completely incoherent message.”

Still, he admitted, “I was kind of a polarizing figure on Jeopardy!” attributing this to how fans are used to more balanced players.

“They have a lot of poise and are all dressed to encourage the best qualities of politeness and righteousness, and people don’t really show off.

“I had no problems with any of those things, I love exhibitionism,” Drew stated clearly.

“I think [because I have] a little more personality than the average winning contestant, [it] could have been a little unnerving for [some] spectators,” he speculated.

“Everyone loves rooting against the winner… you don’t want the winner to be a kind person who you would invite into your home, that’s boring. I’ll gladly be the heel… I’ll lean into it.”

Drew added that he began to play more loosely as he achieved the coveted fifth victory, qualifying him for the next Tournament of Champions.

“You’re really playing with the house money after this… which probably hurt me,” he admitted.

Drew revealed that he first signed up for a college tournament and made it to the finals, but they chose someone else from his college.

He also discussed with production a decision regarding an “imminent/unforeseen” lead; “What are you talking about? That’s not even a word! Why would I say ‘impent?!'”

The Michigan graduate student finished with the second-longest streak of the season, behind only the super champion she defeated, 15-day winner Adriana Harmeyer.

The other qualifiers for the next Tournament of Champions are Adriana, five-day winner Alison Betts and Dr. Amy Hummel and Lisa Ann Walter from Celebrity Jeopardy!

That said, with four wins, Grant DeYoung and Amar Kakirde will likely participate as well.
