FANS HAVE FUN

On July 9, 2024, Family Feud shared an episode clip on YouTube that generated backlash from fans.

In the clip, host Steve Harvey said, “Name a musical instrument that people strum.”

A contestant named Melanie responded, “A drum,” which earned her an “X.”

Fans took to the comments section to mock Melanie’s response.

“Playing the drums? Oh, I must have missed that day in music class,” joked Connor Miller.

“I’m a former percussionist and I don’t remember ever strumming a drum. Haha,” wrote Michael F. Bender.

“When that person said ‘drums,’ I almost fell to the floor,” Mark Garner added, in part.

“I have to strum my drums, haha. I think people should go back to the dictionary and look up what strumming means,” said Patrick Martin.

“They just let that drum response slide…” commented a user called Stream of Consciousness, in part.

Demetrious wrote, in part: “Strings and percussion are my wheelhouse in terms of instruments and I was disappointed with the answers the contestants gave.

Steve Harvey chokes out ‘wow’ and looks perplexed as Family Feud audience stays silent over rude response on board

“What do you think of a drum kit? Like… How do you immediately think of a cello when the violin is in the same group and they said no? Plus, you PLAY those.”

However, among the jokes and criticism, one user came to Melanie’s defense.

“Strumming and drum rhyme. Maybe that’s what she thought. What rhymes with strumming?” a user named IFLIMAT wrote.
