DANGER! announced that Amy Schneider will be the producer’s choice for the Masters tournament, but fans are furious.
Amy, 44, competed on Jeopardy! from November 2021 to January 2022.
During that span, she won 40 consecutive games — the second-longest winning streak in program history.
She also competed in the November 2022 Tournament of Champions.
To date, she is the most successful woman and trans person to compete on the game show.
She earned $1.6 million on the show.
On Friday, she was announced as the producer’s choice for Jeopardy! Masters.
During the tournament, the six highest ranked competitors will face each other and put their knowledge to the test.
The tournament will feature the first Master winner, James Holzhauer.
He will be joined by competitors Matt Amodio and Mattea Roach, and newcomers Yogesh Raut and Victoria Groce.
Amy is the sixth contestant, and her participation was entirely up to executive producer Michael Davies and producer Sarah Whitcomb-Foss.
Since she was announced as the producer’s choice, fans on social media have expressed their fury that Brad Rutter, 46, was not the choice.
Brad has the honor of winning the most money on Jeopardy!, more than $5 million.
He first appeared on the game show in 2000, where he retired after five days of running, which was the limit for contestants at that time.
He also won 17 matches in five different tournaments.
His first defeat other than IBM came when he participated in the Greatest Tournament of All Time in 2020 and came in third place.
Danger! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with several guest hosts in 2021 to the present day:
AMY VS. BRAD
On Inside Jeopardy!, producer Sarah Foss and executive producer Michael Davies revealed that GOAT contestant Brad was contacted to return, but only for the recent “JIT” event, and they passed him on to the Masters in favor of Amy.
Sarah said, “I think someone a lot of people have discussed is Brad Rutter, and of course we said Brad Rutter absolutely has an open invite to our JIT, this is our competition to prove if you’re one of our Jeopardy greats.”
“Come back and show us that you are still a Jeopardy great and therefore you have a path to the Masters.”
“JIT is the path to the Masters, and that’s why he did it this year, because we really feel like we need that reminder, we need to see in this moment who shows up and who plays their best game and that’s what Amy did in this competition, is That’s why she’s going to the Masters.”
In danger! On the Reddit board, fans discussed the producer’s choice in a thread dedicated to the show’s recent podcast episode.
Many fans were frustrated that Sarah claimed that Brad had to “prove” that he was one of the big names on the show, instead of being given that title without being in danger! Invitational tournament.
One said: “Such a shameful decision. No explanation will justify Amy being chosen over Brad or Cris.”
“The disrespect towards Brad in this is offensive. I kind of want Brad to lose in the JIT finals next season just so they can find another excuse to choose Amy and the hypocrisy will be exposed to everyone,” added another.
A third said: “So Amy understands why she can be a huge audience draw even though she missed JIT, why include her in JIT if they were just going to give her a spot?”
“I’m shocked that ABC chose Amy over Brad, but the GOAT’s performance in 2020 may have made his return difficult,” wrote a fourth.
The second installment of Jeopardy! Masters will air on May 1 and will be hosted by Ken Jennings.
