AS Pop Culture Jeopardy! gets closer, the network is revealing more about the spinoff and it won’t be a cakewalk.
The game show, announced in May, will air exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
But now the producers of Jeopardy! revealed more about the upcoming show.
In the July 15 episode of Inside Jeopardy! podcast, Danger! Producers Michael Davies and Sarah Foss said the pop culture version won’t be as easy as people think.
“A lot of people when we announced this said, ‘Finally a version of Jeopardy! I can actually play,” Michael said.
“That being said, this is going to be branded Jeopardy! hard. In fact, the percentage of scores above a certain number on the pop culture test is exactly the same percentage we see on the regular test.”

“It won’t be a cakewalk for anyone to get on the show and (since it’s team-based) you’ll have to beat six other people on other teams,” he continued.
“The competition at the buzzer, the deep competition in the categories, is pretty intense with so many people competing.”
Sarah said, “You think pop culture is a specific field, but it’s testing knowledge in a new way.”
Producers also said they are still casting for Season 1, which will have 27 episodes.
Pop culture danger! It will also be tournament-based and “celebrities and show alumni” have also signed up, according to producers.
TO PLAY
Danger! has been on ABC since its inception, but Pop Culture Jeopardy! will be the first to air on streaming services.
The overall gameplay will remain intact, but there are two major changes to the game’s format.
Instead of answering general knowledge questions, participants will answer questions about pop culture topics like music, movies, sports, TV and more.
And instead of three individual players competing against players, the spinoff will have three teams of three players answering questions.
Michael, who hosts all other versions of Jeopardy! will also serve as executive producer of this spinoff.

GET OUT, KEN
A host has not yet been announced for Pop Culture Jeopardy!.
Ken Jennings hosts the syndicated version and spinoffs on ABC, but there is no word on whether he will host the new show.
However, in June, a former Celebrity Jeopardy! competitor hinted that she could be the pioneer in the role of presenter.
Katie Nolan, 37, former ESPN host, podcaster and runner-up on Celebrity Jeopardy! 2023, spoke about the possibility in What Is… A Jeopardy! Podcast.
“There has been some speculation online about you as the potential host of Pop Culture Jeopardy!,” podcast host Emily Heller asked Katie.
“Can you respond to these rumors?”
“I can’t,” she replied, eliciting a gigantic laugh from the interviewer, who seemed surprised.
“But I will say I would love that and it would be something I would be interested in talking about.”
“Whether I talked or not, I’ll just say I can’t respond,” Katie clarified.
“But I will say it was an honor to be mentioned.
“I’m on the Jeopardy subreddit and one day I saw someone mention me and said, ‘That’s me! This is sick!’” she said.
“No one knows what could happen. What should come to you will come to you.
“So let’s wait and see,” Katie concluded.
The spinoff’s premiere date has not yet been announced.
