Ryan Seacrest joked about former Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak in a new behind-the-scenes video from his first day on set.
In the clip, Ryan walks through the building and finds a cardboard cutout of Pat and Vanna White.
Standing next to Cardboard Pat he asks, “Who’s taller?
“He is,” says Ryan pointing at Pat, adding “Shocker.”
Ryan is six feet and seven inches tall, while Pat is five feet and ten inches tall.
Elsewhere in the video, the star tells viewers: “Listen to the sound of this wheel, okay.

“Iconic.”
He then turns and, smiling, approaches with his eyes closed.
“I find that comforting,” he says.
Ryan, 49, is set to replace longtime host Pat when the show returns for its 42nd season later this year.
The video he shared also shows him meeting the show’s team as he says, “My heart is pounding, I’m so excited.”
Entering the set and seeing the wheel for the first time, he again jokes about its height saying, “The wheel is smaller than you think, and so am I.”
He adds that he was “so excited” that he went out of his way to to sleep – but then says he slept “well” but was “very excited” when the alarm went off.
The video ends with the On Air With Ryan Seacrest host jumping outside holding a bag.
While some have already called for Ryan to be replaced based on the recent promotion, people in the comments said they “can’t wait” for his season to air.
“The sound we have heard for generations in my home [raised hands emoji]”, wrote one viewer.
“Excited that you’ve passed the torch on this legacy.”
Another commented: “It’s like your first day of school, so excited!! We’ll miss Pat, but we can’t wait to see him debut! [capping hands and movie clapboard emojis].”
“You’re going to do great!!! I’m so excited for you. I can’t wait to watch. [red heart emoji]”, wrote a third.
“They couldn’t have found anyone better. Good luck!” someone said.
Pat, 77, announced he was retiring from X, formerly Twitter, last year after hosting the show since 1983.
“Well, the time has come. I have decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be our last,” he wrote.
“It’s been a wonderful journey and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Thank you all so much.”
Ryan was announced as the new host in June last year.
In his post about his new role, the American Idol host said he was “humbled” to take over Pat’s role.

He co-hosted alongside Susan Stafford (1975 to 1982)

Pat hosted Susan for a season

For five months, NFL player Rolf Benirschke took his place
In July 1989, Bob Goen hosted the show on CBS
He hosted for a year and a half until the show was canceled in 1991
The show was then moved to ABC, with Pat and Vanna hosting for the foreseeable future.
In 2023, Pat announced his retirement and Ryan Seacrest was quickly named his replacement
“I am truly honored to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.
“I can say, along with the rest of America, that it was a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years.”
