Opera singer Dennis faced off against speech therapist Peggy and recent graduate Gabby in the season premiere.

During the second round of the Big Board, Dennis lost all of his $17,000 (and a trip to the Las Vegas Sphere) after falling for an ambulance (or Whambulence)-themed scam.

He started to increase his score when he instantly gave a second Whammy – clearing his score once again.

What’s worse, the second Whammy was themed around an opera singer.

“Thanks for giving me your money,” sang the cartoon Whammy, which seemed especially cruel given Dennis’ profession.

‘SO COLD’

Viewers took to social media to criticize low-key opera singer Whammy.

“Showing the opera singer Whammy to the opera singer is so cold.” a user X wrote.

“Okay, there was clearly someone back there deciding to pull the opera singer scam on the opera singer,” wrote another.

Gabby ended up going to the bonus round, where she won another five figures in cash and prizes, including a Four Seasons brunch.

Press Your Luck Season 6 airs weekly on Thursday nights throughout the summer at 8pm ET on ABC and Hulu.

FEELING LUCKY?

In Press Your Luck, contestants start by answering general knowledge trivia questions to win rounds on the Big Board.

For each question, the first person to enter has the chance to answer.

A correct answer is worth three rounds, while getting a multiple-choice answer right afterwards is worth one.

After four questions, play moves to the Big Board and the winner eventually moves on to the bonus round.

On the big board, money and prizes follow, ranging from outdoor TVs to luxurious vacations.

But so does the diabolical Whammy, who takes away all the winnings and must be avoided at all costs.

The show was a hit in the 1980s, but ended its run after just three seasons in 1986.

It ended in scandal in 1984 when an unemployed ice cream truck driver named Michael Larson He gained a lot by memorizing the patterns on the board.

Fans have been excited for the show to return and it is now hosted by Elizabeth – who is a huge fan and used to watch the show growing up, so ET.

According to the outlet, she “cried in the shower” after her first day hosting the revival because it meant so much to her.
