The Spanish teacher from Michigan competed against champion Neilesh Vinjamuri and Monica Anderson, a master control operator from Virginia.

Neilesh continued his two-day winning streak on Monday, with the Pennsylvania-based software engineer collecting a whopping $41,000 in winnings.

After the episode aired, Sean started a Reddit thread for fans to ask questions about his experience on the show, describing it as “an absolute whirlwind.”

Asking a series of questions, a viewer asked Jeopardy! contestant, “Did you stay to watch the day’s tapings? Was it strange watching the other matches before this one aired on TV (since you knew all the other champions had to have lost for Neilesh to be the returning champion)?”

“Actually, come to think of it, were you a stand-in on the previous recording day?” the Reddit user continued.

Sean clarified that he “didn’t stick around” to watch the other games being recorded because his family, who came to support him, were “a little impatient to explore” Los Angeles.

New danger! episodes are filmed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and five games are recorded per day.

Sean confirmed he was not an alternative contestant, but drew “the straw to be first on filming days”.

On whether he knew the results of the other games in advance, Sean said: “I haven’t actually watched the recent episodes due to being out of the country for the last month, so I’ve been following the sub and J Archive.

“So Neil’s winning episode was news to me until I came up with this replacement,” he added.

Sean also revealed that he and Monica were unaware that Neilesh was the returning champion until “very close to filming the first episode of the day.”

He praised Neilesh’s performance, writing, “He was super kind and a great competitor.”

TWO GOOD TO BE TRUE

Fans said they “loved watching Neilesh”, adding “he did really well” during Monday’s episode.

At the end of the first round, he passed Sean and Monica, winning $9,000 after correctly guessing the Daily Double.
