DANGER! fans got a particularly brutal outcome on Thursday’s episode.

Davey Morrison, an actor and screenwriter from Provo, Utah, was aiming for his second win against Phil Gatton and Krista Boyd.

Davey returned after his upset victory over three-day champion Neilesh Vinjamuri.

After sharing that he survived a quicksand scare, he was looking to survive the game and perhaps end Season 40 as the defending champion.

After a tough Jeopardy! round where a word game round gave 2/5, Davey led with $2,200 (and a Daily Double), Krista $1,600, Phil – $800.

On Double Jeopardy!, the fights continued and there were 20 triple clues in total.

No one knew Dua Lipa’s “Houdini” or could guess that the “Delaware River” ran through Philadelphia.

Davey’s challengers correctly answered the remaining Daily Doubles, betting $2,000 each, as they both had $0 when they found them.

Davey entered Final Jeopardy with $13,000, while Phil had $2,000 and Krista had $1,200.

The “Famous Women” clue was: “Adding to her nickname, a legend claimed that early in life she was saved from drowning by family friend Mark Twain.”

Davey and Krista hit with “Molly Brown”, and Davey added $512 to win with $13,512, for a two-day total of $29,012.

‘HARD’

Fans took to social media, surprised by the low-scoring, slow-paced game with four clues uncovered.

Krista finished with $1,200 and Phil $2,000, both less than the show’s 2nd and 3rd place consolation prizes.

“Davey played well, but it was a difficult game for the opponents, all those wrong answers slowed down the game significantly,” wrote one Redditor.

“The fact that a score of just 4,100 going into FJ would have been enough for a breakout today is crazy.”

“This was one of the games of all time,” joked another. “Congratulations to Davey on another win and let’s see if he can finish the season strong.”

On Facebook, reactions were even less forgiving.

“Such a wasted game today, so many unanswered questions,” criticized one fan.

“It’s not one of the best shows or competitors. It’s time to find the best ones”, said another.

“A difficult show for everyone”, lamented another.

The game was reminiscent of the first game, after Isaac Hirsh lost with 21 triple stumpers.

However, only a select few know the pressure of Jeopardy! internship (and to pass the difficult multiple-round auditions).

Davey will be looking for his third victory at the end of the season – if he wins he will be champion for the whole summer.

GOODBYE TO SEASON 40

The 40th season of Jeopardy! ends on Friday, July 25th, with summer reruns taking place.

Between Mayim Bialik’s firing and some of the most intense tournaments in the show’s history, and some of the longest, it’s been quite a journey.

As the show prepares for its annual summer break, eight players have qualified for the next ToC so far in regular play.

The qualifiers are Isaac (9 wins), Drew Basile (7 wins), Adriana Harmeyer (15 wins), Alison Betts (5 wins) and Dr. Amy Hummel (5 wins), and Lisa Ann Walter from Celebrity Jeopardy!

With four wins, Grant DeYoung and Amar Kakirde are also likely to participate.

The next Contest of Champions will not begin Season 41 in the fall. Instead, the ToC will take place in early 2025, mid-season, to ensure there are enough players to do so.

Season 41 will begin on September 9, 2024 and whoever is the champion tomorrow will return then.

Danger! airs at 7pm ET – check your local listings.
