YEARS after the rivalry between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian began, the former appeared to release a song about the latter.
After she released The Tortured Poets Department, some fans thought one lyric was a little “immature” and she “crossed the line” when she wished the Skims founder dead.
Taylor’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released on April 19.
Just as fans were getting ready for bed, Taylor, 34, surprised them with a double album and 15 more songs to make The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.
In addition to throwing shade at her exes — Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy — and singing about how she’s in love with boyfriend Travis Kelce, Taylor also threw shade at a known enemy.
On the second album, there is a song titled thanK you aIMee, with the letters deliberately capitalized.

However, one line that fans thought went overboard was about Taylor’s mother, Andrea, saying she wanted this “school bully” dead.
“Everyone knows my mother is a holy woman, but she said she wishes you would die,” she sang.
This reference could also have a double meaning for one of Kim’s children because she has a son named Saint.
Taylor continued to claim that fans could only connect with Kim, 43, and her daughter, North, 10.
“I wrote a thousand songs that you don’t think are cool. I built a legacy that you can’t undo, but when I count the scars, there’s a moment of truth, that this wouldn’t be, if there hadn’t been you,” she sings.
Taylor goes on to say that she believes this person she’s singing about hasn’t changed much, so she changed her name and set clues about her.

No one has ever denied that the word ‘b***h’ was used without her permission.
- 2023 – Taylor said in an interview with TIME that the feud between Kim and Kanye felt like a “career death” and “broke her down psychologically.”
But Swifties know that North is a fan of Taylor’s music.
She posts TikToks with her music and has used the star’s merchandise before, despite her mother and father, Kanye West, being feuding with Taylor.
Then, in a true defining clue, Taylor continues singing: “And one day your boy comes home singing a song that only the two of us will know is about you.”
At the end of the song, Taylor thanks King aIMee again because she won’t forget the way he made her heal.
CROSSING THE LINE
Some music listeners believe Taylor crossed a line when she said Andrea wished Kim were dead, despite many other singers writing about her haters.
Reddit users commented on the lyrics on the platform.
“Taylor’s death wish crossed the line. Like everyone else, I stopped caring about the Kim/Taylor drama a long time ago. But Taylor sending a literal death wish to Kim in a song where she spells out Kim’s name in capital letters so that there is no confusion about who she is talking about is very big,” wrote the original poster.
“She also directly brought Kim’s kids into this and now the whole internet is mentioning a North in relation to a song that wants Kim to die and that North is old enough that she won’t find out at all. a child.”
“I will never look at her the same way,” they finished.
Some Reddit users said Taylor knows how to hold a grudge, while others said they think North will come after her on a song in a few years.
“With Taylor’s success now, it’s really pathetic that she’s still talking about this,” said another.
“This seems immature and irrelevant. Move on, girl. We all do,” another user wrote.
In addition to thank you to IMee, Taylor sang about Kim and Kanye in That’s Why We Can’t Have Nice Things and Look What You Made Me Do (Reputation, 2017) and Innocent (Speak Now, 2010).
Fans also believe that TTPD’s song Cassandra could be about Kim, as it references phone calls and snakes.
Kanye sang about Taylor in his songs Famous (The Life of Pablo, 2016) and Carnival (Vultures 1, 2024).
SWIFTIE SMACKDOWN
However, on the other side of things, some fans trolled Kim after hearing the song.
Shortly after Taylor’s release, fans took to Kim’s Instagram page and called her aIMee in the comments.
“The way I ran to Instagram after thanking IMee,” said one fan.
“As soon as I heard the song I couldn’t get here fast enough,” wrote another.
“I just heard Kim’s diss song,” applauded a third. “Super smart, Taylor, much needed.”
