The Simi Valley, California house was once home to the classic 1982 horror film Poltergeist, which followed the Freeling family.

Since 1979, the house remained off the market until recently.

Now, the California residence is selling for a hefty $1.175 million.

Equity Union Real Estate’s Lauren Murdock real estate listing acknowledged “ghostly shenanigans” in its listing.

“This is the house where much of the first film in the series was filmed, but ‘this house is clean… seriously, it is!” the listing to read.

He also stated that the “house is ready to welcome a new family, without the ghostly antics, we promise!”

The iconic horror house had four bedrooms with two and a half bathrooms.

The listing said the home has a “thoughtfully designed layout that is perfect for entertaining, relaxing, and living at your best.”

Additionally, the California home has two levels and a dining room that connects to a kitchen “where fans of the film will love to see that it is still in its original form but with updated appliances.”

It also has a garage for three cars and a swimming pool with trampoline and jacuzzi.

Realtors noted that the 16,000-square-foot lot could be “divided and a second home built.”

It is also said to be close to “great schools, parks, shopping [and] to have lunch.”

CURSED HOUSE?

The listing made a point of announcing that it was not haunted after much talk that the film had been cursed since it was released in 1982.

In the same year that it hit theaters, actress Dominique Dunne was sadly murdered by her boyfriend at just 22 years old.

Six years after the film’s release, actress Heather O’Rourke died during surgery in 1988 – she was just 12 years old.

Additionally, Poltergeist also had unconventional ways of bringing horror into real life.

In 2022, JoBeth Williams revealed that real human remains were used during the film’s production.

“I always assumed the skeletons were made by the props department,” said JoBeth Vanity Fair.

Original cast of Poltergeist

Oliver Robins as Robbie Freeling

Michael McManus as Ben Tuthill

Virginia Kiser as Mrs.

“A few years later I ran into one of the special effects guys and said, ‘You guys are doing all those skeletons, that must have been really amazing.’

“He said, ‘Oh, we didn’t make them; those were real,” the guy confirmed, “Yes, they were real skeletons.”

“I don’t know where they were purchased, but it really disgusted me,” she continued.

“I’m glad I didn’t know that at the time, because I would have really been screaming my head off – really.”

Following the success of the original film, two sequels were made in 1986 and 1988, and a remake was made in 2015.
