Winston Duke says he’s confident Black Panther 3 is coming and says ‘finishing the saga is a high priority’ for Marvel

Black Panther star Winston Duke has revealed why he’s confident Marvel will make another sequel to the beloved superhero franchise.

The 37-year-old actor spoke about the possibility of Black Panther 3 during Live with Kelly and Mark on Friday.

While Winston was on the morning show to promote his new film The Fall Guy, which also stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, host Kelly Ripa couldn’t help but ask about his work at Marvel.

She asked the star if there will be a third Black Panther film, after the second in the series, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was released in 2022.

Winston played M’Baku in the first film, released in 2018 and starring the late Chadwick Boseman as the titular character, and its recent sequel.

“I can’t say,” the actor told Kelly at first, pretending to be shy. “I don’t know, they didn’t tell me.”

“But I think so,” he admitted, before adding that “it would be crazy for them not to do a third.”

Winston stated that Marvel has “always had plans to finish the saga” and that this is “a high priority” for them.

In the end, he changed his original answer to: “So I would say yes.”

While Kelly was happy to hear that the film series would likely continue, she doesn’t want it to end with the potential third film.

“Maybe they’ll finish in five,” she suggested.

“From your lips to God’s ears,” replied Winston. “And I know good things happen when you say that.

In addition to wanting to return to the Black Panther franchise, Winston also recently revealed that he wants to join another beloved superhero franchise.

LOOKING FORWARD

The Marvel actor said he would “love” to join the DCU as Batman in a live-action film, during an interview with SlashFilm.

He urged fans to start a campaign and “push for [him]”for the paper.

“I would love any opportunity to explore new characters, to change narratives around some of these ingrained ideas of what these characters should look and sound and act like,” Winston said.

He added that he is “all for it” and fans on social media had a similar reaction to the idea.

“He definitely has qualities,” said one fan on X (formerly Twitter), before noting that Winston previously voiced Batman in an audio drama.

“I actually think this casting would be crazy, DOPE,” another online user tweeted.

“To be honest, I want Winston Duke in every movie I watch,” admitted a third fan.

“I would actually care about a Batman movie for once if that happened,” wrote a fourth X user.
