The official trailer for It Ends With Us didn’t get the best reaction from fans after its release on Thursday.
The new film, starring Blake Lively, 36, and Justin Baldoni, 40, has revealed its full trailer ahead of its August 9 release.
Sony’s adaptation is based on the bestselling 2022 novel by Colleen Hoover.
The trailer shows Lily, played by Blake, starting her life in a new city after graduating from college.
She falls in love with Ryle, played by Justin, who is seen being abusive throughout the teaser.
Blake’s character runs into some trouble when her first love, Atlas, played by Brandon Sklenar, enters the picture and challenges her relationship with Ryle.

While fans waited for the official release of the film’s trailer, some felt it was too revealing and revealed the entire plot.
Some even noted how discovering Ryle’s abuse was a shocking moment in the book and would no longer be a surprise in the film.
The video was shared on Instagram, where one person commented: “WHY DID THEY SHOW THE WHOLE MOVIE IN A TRAILER.”
“Okay, but this reveals the entire plot,” said a second.
“That looks good, but the trailer told everyone the whole damn story,” commented a third.
“That trailer revealed a lot! The abuse was the shocking moment in the book where I choked up,” noted another.
“Why did they show the whole movie in the trailer!??” someone asked.
CONTROVERSIAL CAST?
After the cast of the new film was revealed, some fans of the book weren’t too happy with the characters played by older actors.
In the book, Lily is just 23 years old while Blake is 35. Likewise, Ryle is 30 while Justin is 40.
While talking about TodayColleen explained that she purposely cast older actors to correct a mistake she made in the book.

“At the time I wrote It Ends With Us, the new adult film [genre] it was very popular,” she explained.
“You were writing college-age characters. That’s what I was hired to do. I played Lily at a very young age. I didn’t know that neurosurgeons had been going to school for 50 years.
“There is no such thing as a 20-something neurosurgeon. When I started making this film, I thought, ‘We need to age them up, because I messed up.’ So it’s my fault,” Colleen added.
Colleen said that despite the backlash she received, she couldn’t be happier with the casting choices.
She added that she has been “obsessed” with Blake since starring in Gossip Girl and was excited to have her lead the film.
Along with Gossip Girl, Blake has also starred in hit films like A Simple Favor, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Age of Adeline.
Colleen also addressed the backlash over Lily’s outfits after Blake and Justin were spotted filming scenes in New Jersey.
The author said she never remembered describing Lily’s clothes in the book, and although some fans seemed upset about what she was wearing, Colleen said she loved the buzz it created around the film.
“I don’t care what they’re wearing. In my head, it’s about the conversation they’re having and the story,” she explained.
Colleen concluded by saying that fans will “be happy” when the novel adaptation hits the big screen.
