Richard, 74, was interviewed about Julia while in south France for the Cannes Film Festival.

Richard and Julia gained fans in the 1990s by playing the lead roles in Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride.

Both successful films were directed by Hollywood star Garry Marshall, who also wrote and produced several major titles.

The film executive died aged 81 in 2016, and Richard made it clear that he could not see a reunion with Garry off-screen.

“Garry was the glue to all of this. It couldn’t be done without Garry,” he said. Deadline.

“That was ray in a bottle; You can’t make it happen again. If it were easy and you could do it again, the computer would do it. It was a moment in all of our lives.

“She can’t be in the same place, so I can’t be in that place. We don’t have Garry to keep everything under control, his lightness, sense of humor and romanticism.”

RICARDO JUSTO

Although Richard is still in demand, at one point it looked like he might have put his career in jeopardy.

The actor was reportedly banned from the Oscars in 1993 after improvising his speech.

Instead of following his script when presenting the award for Best Art Direction, Richard decided to address international politics.

He gave an impassioned speech about the “horrible, horrendous human rights situation” in China under Deng Xiaoping, and was reportedly banned from the awards ceremony for 20 years.

The Oscars denied that Richard was banned, saying HQ“We don’t ban presenters.”

Richard also spoke to the channel and appeared to suggest that he had in fact been banned, but argued: “The studios are interested in the possibility of making huge profits.

“Small, interesting, character-driven, narrative-driven stories. It had no impact on my life.”

Despite rumors of a 20-year ban, Richard returned to the Oscars just 10 years later in 2003.

LUCK IN LOVE

Alongside his acting career, Richard has been busy making red carpet appearances with his third wife, Alejandra Silva.

The couple were photographed looking very much in love at a gala in New York last month, with Richard looking suave as ever in a classic black suit.

Richard and Alejandra got married in secret in 2018 and welcomed two children.

Fans were pleased to see Richard and his wife on the red carpet again following his pneumonia diagnosis just over a year earlier.

The actor was rushed to the hospital in February 2023 while on vacation in Mexico with his family.
