DISNEY is facing backlash from fans over a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Moana sequel.

On Wednesday, Disney released the trailer on YouTube, sparking outrage from fans over the film’s treatment of a rooster.

The almost two-minute long clip doesn’t reveal much about the animated film, showing Moana on the beach before venturing off the island by boat, where she is joined by fan-favorite character Maui.

However, viewers were not happy with how the rooster was being treated in the trailer.

At one point, Moana threw the bird out of what appeared to be a cave after discovering that it was the culprit behind the pecking echoes.

The rooster screamed as he fell on his face before quickly getting up and walking away.

Later, the rooster returned when Maui grabbed him tightly and threatened to make eggs with him during his and Moana’s trip at sea.

COMPLAINTS OF ‘ABUSE’ FROM FANS

The video circulated in a popular online thread where fans criticized Disney for apparently downplaying animal cruelty.

“The cock being thrown is painful for a child,” one person wrote in the thread.

“Multiple cases of cock abuse in Moana 2 trailer. Another Disney movie I won’t take my son to,” said another.

Moana 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27th.

US Sun reached out to Disney for comment but did not hear back.

Disney Releases Surprise Animated Film Sequel in a Few Months After Hit Film Dominated Oscars and Box Office

In February, Disney shocked fans when it announced that the Oscar-winning film would have a sequel.

They shared a 17-second clip from the film, showing Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) and her friend Maui (voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson).

“Well, this is very sudden, but we’ll be watching!” said one fan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“This is so out of character, honestly,” agreed a second.

“This is going to be so good!” boasted a third.

“WHAT AM I ASKING FOR,” applauded a fourth.

A live-action production of the film is also in the works, starring Dwayne, and will be released in late June 2025.

Auli’i revealed last May that she I wouldn’t be repeating her role in the live version, but will be executive producer.

THE LIVE ACTION

“When I was cast to play Moana, at the age of 14, my life changed wonderfully and I began my career,” the actress told her Instagram followers.

“In this live-action retelling, I will not be reprising the role. I believe it is absolutely vital that casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell, so as the film’s executive producer, I can’t wait to help find the next actress to portray the courageous spirit, undeniable intelligence, and strength emotional feeling of Moana”, she concluded.

Meanwhile, Dwayne revealed to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that he would be involved in a live-action remake.

The original Moana film took the box office by storm and, upon its release in November 2016, grossed more than $680 million internationally.
