In the image shared on Instagram by co-star Pedro Pascal, the Kildare native can be seen relaxing in the chair at the hair and makeup station.

Mescal is shirtless in the image and wearing costume cuffs, toga-style clothing and covered in special effects bruises.

Chilean-American actor Pascal shared the image alongside the new poster for the highly anticipated film due out in November.

Last week, he shared some action photos of him and Mescal in the midst of battle in some early stills from the film.

Irish heartthrob Mescal plays Lucius, nephew of the dead character Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix in the first Gladiator film.

The Last of Us star Pedro plays Marcus Acacius in the highly anticipated sequel, and Denzel Washington also has a supporting role as an arms dealer, while Connie Nielsen reprises her role as Lucilla.

The first official poster shows Mescal front and center in armor and crouched down with a full arena behind him.

He rubs sand between his palms and a sword is lodged in the earth in front of him, ready for battle.

The poster also features a release date of November 22.

The film’s official trailer will be released tomorrow, giving fans a more in-depth look at the Irish actor in action.
