The film’s director, Jon. M Chu will also direct the stage production of Crazy Rich Asians, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This would be Jon’s first time directing a play.

However, he has directed films that have been adapted from musicals, including In the Heights and the upcoming film Wicked.

The musical is aimed at Broadway and is being developed by Warner Bros. Theater Ventures.

The film was adapted from Kevin Kwan’s trilogy of books.

Constance Wu and Henry Golding starred in the film, which won the Critic’s Choice Award and the Teen Choice Award.

It was nominated for a SAG Award and a Golden Globe, but didn’t win either.

The schedule for the pre-Broadway engagement will be announced soon.

THE PLOT

Crazy Rich Asians follows an American named Rachel Chu (Constance) who travels to Singapore with her boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry).

They attend the wedding of Nick’s best friend, Colin Khoo, and his supermodel fiancée, Araminta Lee.

While there, Nick and Rachel visit his family, and Rachel discovers that he comes from a very wealthy family.

He is also the sole heir to the family fortune, but his family does not approve of Rachel, who grew up middle class.

Later, Nick reveals that he plans to propose to Rachel, meaning he would stay in New York and not take over the family business.

At the end of the film, she wins his family’s approval and they become engaged.

‘NO SEQUEL?’

Even though many films have been turned into musicals like Mean Girls or Back to the Future, Crazy Rich Asians fans aren’t too happy about this news.

They would rather have a sequel that follows the plot of the books.

One X, a former Twitter user, wrote: “We don’t need a musical… we want a second movie!”

“Where’s the sequel?” asked another.

“Modern studio cinema is so faded, because how do you not immediately fast-track a blockbuster sequel and let it go to Broadway first???” a third wondered.

“Everything except the sequel,” tweeted another.

“Honey, we asked for a sequel to the movie…” one fan begged.

They continued: “At this point, it’s more likely that we’ll see a film of the musical before the second part.”

“They’re going to end up turning this into a musical film before they start adapting the other two bestsellers in the series, aren’t they?” a user X asked.
