ACTOR Austin Bullock, who stars in the new film Twisters, has shared some behind-the-scenes moments, including an ironic climactic event that occurred during the first few days of filming.

US Sun spoke exclusively with Austin about what went down on the set of the highly anticipated film, which opens Friday and is an update to the original 1996 film, Twister.

Twisters, starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos, is an action-packed film about a retired tornado hunter and a meteorologist teaming up to work on new technology in Oklahoma.

However, things got a little real for the cast when a tornado warning was called in the area hours before cameras started rolling.

Austin – who starred alongside Daisy and Anthony in a scene early in the film – revealed that his preparation took a bit of a hit when the weather got scary.

BIG CHANGE

“That day of filming, we got a tornado warning around four in the morning,” the Oklahoma native recalled to The US Sun.

“I think our call time was 6:30 or something like that. So it’s really hard to sleep because you’re excited, you’re trying to read, and then there’s this tornado that you have to worry about.

“So the film lives up to its name when it comes to the location chosen to film it,” he added.

The original Twister film stars Helen Hunt, the late Bill Paxton and the late Philip Seymour-Hoffman.

Although Helen is not expected to appear in the new film, Glen has enlisted her parents, Cyndy and Glen Sr., for a cameo.

In a TikTok shared by the official Twisters account last week, Glen coached his parents before filming his roles in the rodeo scene.

“How are you feeling?” Glen asked his father, who responded enthusiastically, “I feel ready! I can’t wait!”

“Game time!” the Hit Man star’s mother added.

The clip continued with Glen asking the Powell patriarch and matriarch if they had done any preparation for their cameos.

Glen Sr. assured him he would and then joked, “I mean, I’m going to get Tyler’s signature on my hat at the end of the day,” referring to Glen’s character in the film.

Glen Powell Career

The actor has starred in several TV series and films since his Hollywood role

  • Anyone But You (2023)
  • Assassin (2023)
  • Devotion (2022)
  • Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (2020-2022)
  • Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
  • Set It All Up (2018)
  • Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (2018)
  • The Bandits (2018)
  • Sand Castle (2017)
  • Hidden Figures (2016)
  • Scream Queens (2015-2016)

The video then showed the duo wearing their country attire with cowboy hats and bandanas.

Glen revealed that his parents sit directly behind him and Daisy in the film, which his father admitted was a proud moment for them.

“Just being with Glen and sharing the whole experience is so much fun,” Glen Sr. told the camera.

Other stars in the film include Kiernan Shipka, David Corenswet, Katy O’Brian, Maura Tierney, Daryl McCormack, Harry Hadden-Paton, Tunde Adebimpe, Nik Dodani and Brandon Perea.

BOX NUMBERS

According to the varietyTwisters is expected to gross between $50 million and $55 million when it hits U.S. theaters this weekend.

However, its international numbers will carry a lot of weight, as Universal will need to make up for the $155 million it cost to produce the film.

The cast has been promoting the film, with Glen recently bragging about his wild stunts during an interview with Fandango’s Big Ticket.

Glen told the outlet that Twisters has “one of the most incredible action sequences of all time” and may have hinted that he performed his own stunts, adding that he “put his body on the line to sell this experience.”
