“Marvel has removed an untitled film set for July 24, 2026 from its release calendar,” an X post from Discussing Film to read.

“They will now release 3 films in 2026 including 2 untitled films in February and November with ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’ in May.”

Many fans quickly speculated which film had picked up the cliffhanger.

“I assume it will be Spider-Man 4 and Doctor Strange 3, or maybe Shang-Chi 2,” said one user commented.

“There’s a chance this is Armor Wars,” a second person hypothesized.

Many on the social media site speculated that the Disney-owned company canceled the fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise due to negotiations with Sony.

Although many wonder which films were removed, some X users called on Marvel to take advantage of the gap to produce better quality films.

“Quality over quantity please Marvel,” one person he said.

“This is actually a good thing. Marvel should take a ‘less is more’ approach and focus on quality,” a second person said. he said.

“Fewer photos usually equals better quality… good move I suppose,” one user he wrote sarcastically.

The Oscar winner makes a shocking return to the Marvel franchise as the evil Doctor Doom in the next Avengers film

US Sun has reached out to Marvel for comment.

Marvel recently saw a huge spike in popularity after it was announced that 2024 Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the franchise.

The actor, who initially starred as Tony Stark and his superhero alias Iron Man, is set to return as the villainous Doctor Doom.

Robert’s shocking return to the franchise – five years after his character’s death – was announced last month during San Diego Comic-Con.

EACH PHASE FIVE AND SIX MARVEL FILMS THAT HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED

Marvel’s phase five is in full swing. Below, find a complete list of all the films that are scheduled for release.

  • Venom: The Last Dance: October 25, 2024
  • Kraven the hunter: December 13, 2024
  • Captain America: Brave New World: February 14, 2025
  • Rays: May 2, 2025
  • The Fantastic Four: Getting Started: July 25, 2025
  • Blade: November 7, 2025
  • Avengers: Judgment Day: May 1, 2025
  • Avengers: Secret Wars: May 7, 2027

His return also comes after the MCU suffered a string of box office flops, including Eternals, Ant-Man: Quantumania and The Marvels.

Robert taking on the role of villain also helps resolve a major headache for Marvel bosses who wanted to bounce back after Jonathan Majors – who would play big bad Kang – left the franchise after being convicted of domestic violence.

Robert’s reveal as Victor Von Doom was quite a dramatic affair.

Several dressed and masked figures – Doctor Doom’s iconic look – took the stage during a panel at the beloved convention.

Robert, who stood out from the other Dooms in a lime green hooded suit and a plum shirt, took off his mask to thunderous applause.

“New mask, same task,” said Robert.

The beloved actor will not only appear in Avengers: Judgment Day, but will also appear as an antagonist in Secret Wars – both directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.
